Lots of good guys over there. Guys like Letemgrow an Gator a wealth of knowledge an post some great stuff. Would love to see them migrate this way. I Still visit to check out their stuff from time to time. The pitfall over there is people have to sort through the product pimpers. Over here everyone tries to help each other find the most economical way to do things not stick it in someone's arse with over priced bob seed!!! I'm sure that will not fly here! Not in this crowd lol

Indeed...many great members and some great info. The biggest reason I left was because of the self-righteous, arrogant, dips*%ts like Duffy who never fail to miss an opportunity to flame every thread. You can pretty much count on him showing up at some point and opining about The World According to Duffy. He's is such a tool...a man-child.
I have also never anybody so proud of letting so many beautiful deer rot in the woods for 3 weeks before finding the antlers. Beaming with with ecstasy...the self proclaimed King of the Late Recovery!

I certainly like this place much better. When you ask questions and you get responses from people who you know have businesses related to the question, but you don't get a sales pitch, you know what kind of quality people you are dealing with. My dad always said you shouldn't have to tell anyone how good you are. If you know what your doing your actions will prove it.

Well things happened pretty quickly - when I started reading this thread I thought you guys had turned on me! From what I saw of the other thread - it isn't me. I have been pretty open about frequenting the "dark side". To my knowledge nobody has held that against me here - at least if you have you have kept it to yourself. I figure just because I listen, doesn't mean I'm buying. Anyway - I will agree that this place seems to just be better and has a more "community" feeling to it. You always have to worry about new neighbors.

This place is a Forum like none other that I have come across. Yes some of us are a little brash with me being the leader probably in that category. But we have all had a lot to offer! I think this place will change in Time but this forum has been handled very well to this point!

I suspect the only reason the other post was locked is because a new comers first posts were not habitat related. But done more in a defensive sort of way and was obvious it wasn't going anywhere but down hill.

Forums have a life. They grow and they die. The question is how long of a life will it have. I have frequented many forums over the years. Most were waterfowl related because I am a self taught duck hunter. Almost all of my original duck forums are gone or rarely visited by anyone anymore. They have died.
QDMA was the first deer forum that I used regularly. I still check it out occasionally because their is "some" good info there. I'm also a member because I like the magazine and they have not done anything to piss me off in my state. Yet. I think they handled the MN situation poorly and I am amazed at how they downplay the importance of the forum. That forum is the main reason I ever passed up a deer. It is good for educating the meat hunter who wants to grow as a hunter. If more MN hunters followed a QDM strategy of herd health & managemtent, they would have better deer hunting in that state.
I understand there are a lot of reasons to dislike a lot of the big names over there. I sometime think that people here and there are against people making a living in hunting industry. If a guy can sell his consulting services, I have no problem with it. If a guy wants to market and sell a seed, I have no problem. MoBuck, I don't want to pick on you because you offer a lot to this forum. Your posts and videos are great. But I know you sell seed to "deer guys" as well as farmers so I mention you by name. I don't understand why people dislike the sales and marketing of real beans but they are fine with you selling beans. Aren't all parties just selling seed and the difference is in how they are marketed? There are all levels of consumers. Some are educated and some are not. It is the consumers responsibility to be educated or not. If a consumer wants to buy BoB or "real" beans, I guess I just don't care. Thanks to forums, I now know to go to an establishment just like MoBuck runs to buy my seeds instead of throwing money away on marketing and BoB seeds.
Now if people here don't like people there because of their personality, activity in a state organization , affiliation with QDMA or any other reason, you are free to have that opinion. I'm fine with that. But but being a capitalist is not a sin IMO.

You can pick on me, I am a big boy. One of the biggest differences you will get with me is being up front and honest. More than I can say for a lot of guys in the seed biz. I will post cheaper seed if I see it, and let everyone know about it, I have done it here and elsewhere. For every one customer I miss because of it, I gain 2 back. It is funny how some guys will not beat you up over 20 cents a pound and others will not.
edit: Plus I give more seed away to guys on here than I ever sell! Never seen any guys named Don or otherwise do that to help guys out! Not trying to blow my own as I have someone else for that!:D

I must be the odd ball, kind of a drama queen. I was never around on the QDMA forums so I spent an hour on their forum last weekend just trying to figure out what the heck happened with these guys.
I'm addicted to habitat-talk now. The wife's favorite words now -"so what's so damn interesting on habitat now?" I thought I knew a lot until I signed up here. I realized I know nothing.

My kids make fun of me because I am involved in no other forms of social media (not facebook or twitter or anything). Yet I am on a few forums - mainly this one. When I grab the computer at home and start laughing my girls just shake their head and yell to my wife, "Mom - Dad's look'n at deer porn again!". This place makes me think, makes me laugh, helps me learn and has even helped me build up the courage to try new things that I may never have tried otherwise from a habitat perspective. I also agree that there is a big difference between QDM and QDMA. That "A" can make a big difference (read into that all you want).

I knew you could handle it. Anyone married to a barracuda has to be tough. :D I've considered buying seed from you because of what I've seen you do but I figured shipping to Ohio wouldn't be worth it to you or me.
I just wanted a better understanding of the why behind some comments on here.
I sell tooling to machine shops. Every week I tell some customer that my company is not what they need for an application because brand X, my competition, is the better choice in this instance. Nothing builds customer satisfaction and loyalty better than helping the customer with the best solution instead of trying to make a buck on everything. We just do what we do well and don't do what is not our strength. Now even some of my local competitors recomend me when they know it is in my wheelhouse. What goes around comes around.

I am honestly not sure what started the great divide with people leaving the QDM site....probably better off not knowing honestly. I do know that when I ask something here I certianly feel like you guys genuinely want to help and help me make my land the best that I can versus just telling me how awesome you are when it comes to the subject. Also from I know of John from Big Rock anything he endorses is Ok with me.
Keep up the good banter and solid information and I will gladly call this my new family of addicts.
