KY wild, Thanks when everything was all processed and weighed I ended up with 138lbs.
Mozart, Years ago I bought some of those and they really put out the population and did decent on the honey production. Unfortunately they didn’t make it through the winter and they ended up being the last bees I ever bought.
I have strictly feral mutts nowadays some do so-so and others do this. This was a swarm I picked up at the end of June
Although I like yours better as they have resources right there for the brood.

The goldenrod flow is on and staining the box
Late Summer in the south is the stress period for our wildlife. My foodplots are burned to a crisp. Absolutely nothing blooming. Have lost two hives past month. They are out of food. Did not rob this year because so cloudy and wet bees didnt put up much honey. Now they are running out. I dont lose hives in winter - I lose them in summer

This weather hasn’t been the greatest for the bees or for me getting any of my more important projects done. Got rained out again over the weekend so I grabbed some lumber and threw together a half dozen medium boxes to replace some old boxes and for the upcoming goldenrod flow. With 10 hives this summer I’m kinda short on boxes. Will probably make another dozen over the next couple of weeks.

It has been a strong honey season here/ I am out of clean frames. I don't have time to build anymore or monkey with them. It has been unbearably humid for the last couple of weeks so I am sure the honey is too high in moisture content to pull and spin out without closing it up in a room and dehumidifying it for awhile.

Last winter was pretty devastating for my small apiary, lost seven out of eight hives. The only hive that made it was a small swarm I caught in the orchard, and they made it through in a single deep. That hive did well through the summer and fall, looks like maybe they made it through another winter.

I only had one strong hive going into this Winter. It was originally a swarm I caught 2 years ago. It came through last Winter very strong, so strong I split it as soon as I thought it was safe to do so. That split either had the original queen or made their own. So had 2 hives last Summer. The original strong hive is still definitely looking good, I couldnt tell for sure yet if the other one is viable or not there were very limited numbers of bees going in and out yesterday, at least compared to the strong hive. I want to move these 2 hives farther away from where we work on a daily basis. Last year I got nailed a couple of times just walking by..... little bitches! LOL Maybe this little bit of aggression is what is keeping them strong, so I will just move them as opposed to snuffing them out.

Mine are currently buried in a foot and half of snow. Went into winter with 9 hives. I know I’ve lost a couple so far but they were late swarms that never really expanded.
