Hard Horn!

SWIFFY

5 year old buck +
I guess it’s starting to feel like fall to some critters.... it seems early even up here, but I got my first HARDHORN pics today.

A little early, mine are usually the first week in Sept., we had 48deg one morning last week and it gets you to thinking about season.

Wow, that’s early!

End of August is when the first few start down here in Central MO also, last of them done around Sept 10th for me.

Seems like I get one the 26th or 27th every year... then that 1st week of Sept. they all pretty much clean up

A sure sign my favorite time of year is right around the corner.

Nice! I had a hard horned spike on 8/15 I believe! I'll find the pic. Bucks here seem to trend later than they used to. In the old days I would've said average 9/1. Now maybe a week later on average.

Had a small 8 show up in the backyard midday that had completely lost all his velvet (had a pic of him around 3a and he was just beginning to split on a tine). And then the droptine buck walked out this evening in the beginning stages of losing his velvet. Amazing sight for sure. Thankfully my wife had the camera close by.

Holy mackerel! Best pics I've ever seen. (of wildlife) Thanks!

Those are amazing!! Its a small window in the year to capture that velvet shedding moment ... and then with a buck like that! Incredible!

Thanks for sharing!

I pulled cards last week but didn't really notice that these two had lost lost their velvet until yesterday.
