Growing oaks from Acorns

Black Swamp

5 year old buck +
So I collected a bunch of acrons from a few different trees that we liked and have them the float test and put them in bags filled with peat moss in the fridge. My question is what are my next steps and what kind of containers do I need to grow them in. Thanks!!!

Can you share the types you collected? Process can be different based on type of acorn (white vs red) at least down in my neck of the woods where we have few freezes -- white varieties don't require cold stratification whereas red, bur, and pin do. Guessing you already know but deer will definitely favor less bitter varities initally until they're cleaned out and then will tend to move on to less favorable tasting acorns. I'm WAY south of you and primarily have planted sawtooth, swamp chestnut white oak, and live oak acorns, but am sure others on the forum will be able to help more once you share varieties, or at least point you to past related threads (been some really good detailed ones).

Did a bit of searching and am pasting prior thread links that *sound* like they likely will answer questions (being truthful about to run some work errands so no time on my end to read through them).

In no particular order... and with the caveat some will speak more directly to questions you might have than others... and I'm sure I overlooked a few that likely are just as informational, but these should at least give good start...

Paul Knox has a classic thread:"Acorns to Oaks" over on Iowa Whitetails in Doubletree's corner

all those listed above should get you started!!
