Great thread just catching up. Was just up towards your neighborhood hunting turkeys on Ashbrook Island on the ark. Ms. La border. Lots of gobbling but the birds were smarter than me. Your place is beautiful! ( Deer hammer my verbena!)

I was just down in Louisiana last weekend and ran into the same problem. Multiple turkeys every set up resulted in no fried turkey for me, either. My AR turkey was by himself and lonely. Even then, he didnt come easily. I moved three times on him. He is in a 3/4 acre food plot every other day. The last time I set up on him, he was across the food plot gobbling in the woods - triple gobbling When he came in, he circled around the food plot staying in the woods. Why does a turkey that often feeds in a food plot refuse to cross it when a “hen” is sweet talking him from the woods on the other side.
Last year, I killed a turkey that gobbled a lot on the roost, flew down, and came straight to me five minutes later. I enjoyed my two hour hunt for this latest turkey much more. I enjoyed the vocal turkeys in louisiana that kicked my butt. That is what is what makes turkey hunting great. I have to admit, when you are running a long tough streak turkey hunting - one that comes in on a string, gobbling all the way - is welcome
Although our bag limit is two gobblers, I dont feel we have enough turkeys on our place to take two. My turkey hunting here is done for the year
