First run in with tresspassers

Maybe someone planted some pot plants on your land and they are "harvesting"?

Isn't it a bit late in the season?
No idea. I was just throwing out yet one more thing that someone might be trying to do after dark on someone else's land.

Ginseng is very possible. I know my dad recently went looking in his "spots". Not sure how long the plants stay green and are identifiable this time of the year. They most likely dropped their berries by now.

Ginseng is a good idea. I could see a guy getting dropped off so he could trespass without a parked car drawing attention. Then he can get picked up after dark, but it is odd that he would stay out that far past sunset.

In Minnesota ginseng is a September activity, but perhaps in your area it is found later in the year.

i wanna know what's in the bag man!!!

Years ago I was cutting through some woods and scrub not far from home, I came around a pine tree to see one guy standing there, taking pictures of another guy with his back to me. He was kneeling. When they heard me he quickly stood up. Then quickly pulled his pants up.

So maybe you do, maybe you don't. lol

One of my best friends is headed up to his place right now in northern MN. Neighbor just notified him that his place has been broken into. Undoubtedly some methed out cocksuckers. Cut the lock on the gate, kicked in the cabin door, cut the locks on shipping container and storage shed. He was supposed to head up tomorrow night with his 13 year old son to go hunting. I hope for his sake they never find these bastards.

Those types are called shit creekers (pronounced crickers) in northern MO. Nearly everyone you talk to has been affected by them. Not necessarily meth heads, but almost just as bad.

He just got word from the cops. Sounds like they got everything. They even got into his big gun safe. They are all gone. He's still driving up there.

This has been a good read. I thought I was unique. Dummy cameras, check. The point about hitting trespassers hard for few years and things improve is real. Show no mercy. This ain't 1950 anymore. And, uh, I enjoy hunting people more than animals.

If you don't you could end up like me spending what little you saved for retirement on attorneys to protect property you already own. It varies by state, but the old world laws intended to protect private property are now being used to take private property. Now that most every square foot of this continent has some property designation, some laws are used for the inverse of their intent. If you knowingly allow people to trespass, and they do so in an open and notorious way, they can claim title to that land in the form of an easement after a period of time (5-20 years).

Luckily I have a documented history of controlling my property, that was key in protecting it 20 years later. I have had three armed confrontations that included one with me putting a gun to guy's head while I pinned both his arms against my steering wheel. Every single incident provided the opportunity for me to fire rounds in self defense against an armed and drunk individual or group, but I didn't. I used to think it was a lot cheaper and easier to earn the reputation as a psycho and cherish the isolation from the good ol' boys club, but it still didn't stop one group trying to make a claim against our property using false pretenses, and it had to go to trial, $70k. The financial factors associated with killing someone have changed a bit for me. Putting a .44 slug in the guy's chest while he is holding a rifle and his wife kid watched might have been cheaper, and it would still be an effective deterrent today.

Another thing I will add is that I think I have had a disproportionate number of county/state/city employees. These are especially easy to deal with because they are likely to be terminated, and will if you make a stink. It's kinda hard to explain to your boss what you are doing with a beer in one hand, a gun in the other, trying to the lock off the gate, and you are a law enforcement officer.......

Thank the dear Lord for cheap trail cameras....smile big assholes....

Hope he has good insurance. I'd be a nervous wreck if I left firearms at an absentee property.
Especially after watching a youtube video on how easy it is to peel open a gun "safe" (residential security cabinet). I think you would be better off hiding them in the trees in a pelican case.

What’s going on in the photos?

What’s going on in the photos?
A group of good ol boys who think they are entitled to access everyone's property when no one is around. Mainly just drinking and ruining wet roads and cheap beer. They stood there milling around the gate trying to convince the cop to shoot the lock, for some reason he couldn't and gave up. They could have just lifted the gate off the hinge, or they could have just drove through the neighbors.

Not smart. Ol' jake doesn't call me drunk anymore thinking we are friends. I am a loaner jake, a rebel.

I had this prick cited while I was sitting at the kitchen table. The sheriff stopped on the road leaving the property. I am sure his date was impressed.

Look at the expression on her face. Her and her yoga pants are about to find out what rose bushes are.

My buddy sent me videos from his place last night. They completely trashed his cabin. They took everything that had any value, including his freezer full of food. They made themselves a pizza while they robbed the place. They pissed inside the cabin, ashed cigarettes all over the place tore everything apart and what they didn't take they broke and smashed. His gun safe that was bolted to the floor got tipped over and they cut a hole in the bottom of it. There have been 12 places hit in his area in the last two weeks. They got all his hunting clothes, boots, guns, ammo, tools, chainsaws, power tools, tackleboxes, etc. They broke all of the fishing poles, cabinets, drawers, doors, etc. I hope the f******g animals die a slow and brutal death.
