Electric bike

We should do a pole on those methods of going to a stand. I have considered driving my UTV to stands. I got a golf cart....so we use that. Some just want to walk. I think that is the worst....as they leave scent, footsteps, and crunching sounds along the way.

Also, I think a side by side that drops off a hunter.....and continues along away from the blind.....is ideal.
I’m convinced walking is the worst. I can drive my motor bike or Polaris and they will stand there and look at me. If I walked by they run like the wind.

The dropping off makes sense. But a Polaris sitting there with smell of fuel might hide scent even more

It looks like you've had your Volcon Grunt for a couple of years, have you had replace the batteries yet? Have you had any unexpected maintenance issues with the Grunt?

I’ve had zero problems with it. I’ve done zero maintenance and the battery is working great. I spray chain lube every once in a while. The new version went to a belt so you wouldn’t even have to do that.

Looks cool dawg.

Big game between my tide and your dawgs this weekend.

That looks like it might be a little rough on the totem pole. Hope it rides good and does what you need it to.

Sorry @omicron1792 but I am leaning toward the Dawgs by 3, but hope they win by more.

Just pulled the trigger on this. I needed something more than that ebike. It couldn’t handle the hills or the range. I got off road tires on mine

When you move up to something like these, do they have a high-pitch sound from the motor? I have heard some of them and I wonder if that would defeat the purpose of being stealthy.

They make a bit of a noise but that’s not really my concern. Fortunately I have some long stretches from my house to some parts of my property. And some of my access can be on paved road. I hate driving the sxs on that. And …A) it’s a hell of a lot quieter than my side by side and b) side by side will destroy my roads when it’s muddy, which it has a tendency to be in the winter.
So I think it checks my boxes, I raced dirt bikes for a number of years so I’m very comfortable on a bike, that’s not a concern for me.

How are you liking this thing?
I bought a Rambo Hellcat this year. Supposed to be the baddest electric bike you can get with AWD, 2- 1,000 watt motors, 30 AH battery etc. I hate it. It's great for mowed trails or picked fields with moderate hills. I bought it for steeper and rougher terrain and it just doesn't do it. The rear tire carries all the weight so it runs out of power quickly while the front tire just spins madly looking for traction. The metal fenders ping off every piece of brush they contact. The power is basically on or off, no smooth application. If you want any chance at making a steeper hill, you need to be wide open which means that thing is trying to go 35 mph. That doesn't work in the dark on rough terrain with my bow and other gear flopping around. The shocks bottom out loudly on bumps if you carry any speed, the gear selector by the rear wheel rattles over bumps. There is nothing stealth about getting in the areas I'm trying to go with this thing.
I don't mind walking in, in fact I like the exercise to offset long days sitting on stand. What I don't like is sweating from the walk in and leaving a long scent trail behind.
This brings me back to my original question, how do you like the bike? Does it have power at lower speeds? Can it handle hills? Does it have a smooth variable speed power application?
I'm comfortable on a motorcycle. I have a gas-powered dirt bike & a street bike in the shed and still race a little motocross. This bike I bought just doesn't handle the terrain like I thought it would.

This thing has exceeded every expectation. It will go anywhere. The only obstacle I’ve run up against is trying to climb short steep hills when it was extremely muddy. I’ve had to get off and kind of get it going because it’s just not getting enough traction, but other than that, it is phenomenal. I did have some issues with the brakes squeaking really badly in the mornings, which was dreadful. I re-centered the wheels with the brake calipers and that seems to have eliminated most of it. I’m probably going to upgrade the discs since I have already upgraded the pads. I never run it on sport mode, but I have gotten it up to 44 mph down the road when I did. I just run it on Eco mode and it still runs about 27 which is plenty fast. As far as going slow, I can legitimately balance going one to 2 miles an hour no problem. The power rolls on very smoothly. No jerking at all. I would highly recommend it as long as you’re not a really big guy. They are definitely not the size of a full sized Motorcycle or bike. I’m 5 foot 10 180 pounds and it’s perfectly fine for me.

Let me add my places has a ton of hills so I have a fair perspective on how it will handle and it’s amazing the torque. Like you I’m toting a bow and I don’t want to beat it up so I approach hills at low speed and it will crawl right up them

That's exactly what I'm lacking right now. I have fairly steep hills leading to to high ridges that are not a smooth run up and climb. They are full of old cow trails, washouts, turns, etc. I need smooth power at slow speeds.

44 on a bike is moving my man. Makes my palms sweat.

I’m intrigued as our ebike does NOT handle our hills well at all. Did you buy online and assemble? Or were you able to test drive at a dealers first? Would love to test drive one first.

No I just bought it online after doing some research. It couldn’t be worse than my fat tire e bike so I took a chance. I had to assemble some of it but it was easy.
Talaria is the brand. They have a couple models. I actually think the only place you can really get one in the us is Luna cycles in California.

I wish I could find a place to test drive one. I feel like if I had done that with the e-bike, I may have had 2nd thoughts before plopping down my money. In hindsight , all the YouTube videos that show using an e-bike for hunting are shown on very mild terrain. I should have noticed that.

I'm also interested in the ventus-one electric dirt bike. It's a very powerful bike with 5 modes ranging from beginner to basically insane (50 mph crack the throttle and pop a wheelie) . The power delivery in each mode is also adjustable so you can tame it down a lot. I think it's about 50 hp weighing about 150 lbs. I just want to be dang sure that whatever I buy can get where I want it to go.

Just gonna drop this right here. I got pretty flat land. A few years back I bought a RAD Runner for about $900. It goes anywhere I want to go....which is not very rough terrain....still has pretty good power and more speed than I want. I keep my seat set low to the ground....so I can easily put both feet on the ground when tricky maneuvers are needed. Mine has a front basket (backpack) and a leather rifle scabbard on it. Stealthy transportation. Just looked these up....and now they cost about double of that a few years ago. Yikes.
