Cuddelink L series Q & A

Any suggestions on fixing an L Strobe that works fine during the day but when flash is required I get nothing but pure white photos? I tried the old- taking the batteries out and reinstalling. I went to do a factory reset per instructions but the menu is no longer there after the update. Brand new out of the box.

all pics are like this or some ? can you post an example - to get back to the advanced menu power the camera off and then hold down the more button until it prompts you to enter the advanced menu, you can do the same to revert back to the simple menu

All pics are like this that use the flash. Cat pic is of course no IMG_1802270760.jpgflash. I'll try the advanced menu/reset later this morning. IMG_1802832214.jpg

has it only been in that spot? if so, turn your flash level down as its likely bouncing off that wall- or try it somewhere else to see if it still does it, if so you will like need to send it in for service

I have tried it in different areas even when it's not so dark. Never seen anything like it. But I will try the reset and turning it down etc. Thanks

Looks like I will have to send it in 😤
I have another one coming I ordered recently so I will wait until I try that one out. I do have one out that is working fine.
I wish they could just send me a new one at the same time I send this one back. I'm going to hate the wait.

John, my camera started doing the same thing today. This is a LL-3A

if every pic is like this it needs to go back, your camera is a black flash his is a strobe,
John, the verify picture is fine. Given Tamarack’s started about the same time makes me wonder if this might be a software issue. I’ll to the camera tomorrow and restart. If it’s still acting up, I’ll sent it in.

Let me point this out just in case it is a software or ? issue.... the other L Strobe I have deployed I have no idea if it's doing the same thing. I had Cuddeback switch my account to the new Home unit but I haven't been able to get to the property to switch things because I had planned to put this new cam out at the same time. So I am not getting any pics from any of my cams at the moment.

I'm not happy that we can no longer use the G(I think it is) home/cam combo as a Link cam with this new update. If it can't be used as just a regular cam now a firmware update to be able to do so would be nice.

I dont believe it's software related- it's possible , but if it was, the number of instances would be much greater. As of tonight, the two cameras on this thread are the only two i have seen where there wasnt an explanation for the image being whited out. Verify pictures are taken at 9 am. I thought you both said your night images are where the issue was but its not an issue in day time images?

In regards to the G cell home remote capability, this has been discussed before many times in the past. The G cell home camera wasnt intended to be used as a remote, the G series non cell units were designed as remotes without a cell modem inside. The g cell homes have not been able to be used as a remote since version 8.1 firmware was current (over 4 years ago). The G home cells were sold at $199 retail at a time in which the G remotes were being sold for $279 retail . There will not be an update to allow G cell homes to be used as a remote camera, they were sold at a lower cost as an incentive to promote new networks even though the cell modem added to the unit increased the cost substantially. They were sold at a loss with the idea that cell plans would cover the margin loss in the future. There are users who retained 8.1 firmware and you can revert back to that version for your entire network if using the G cell homes is important to you but you will need to obtain that version from someone else using it, as Cuddeback wont supply discontinued firmware versions. The other option is to find a g link cap and replace the cap on your G cell home unit with that and it will then work as a remote. You can call CS to inquire as from time to time they do have some of those available for purchase if they get returns or refurbs they can pull the cap off of. The g series are discontinued.

Yes, mine only has the problem at night..or I should say - when the flash is triggered.
I have no idea what goes into a firmware update I thought maybe an easy one could be done to make probably hundreds of us happy 🤪
Thanks 👍

I have black flash cameras. I'm a newbie. I had one pic last week that was whited out. Did the new gen 3.2 update you sent me.

Has there ever been any thought to tying some kind of weather app to photos that were taken by your camera. It would be nice if some how you could partner with HuntX to link their weather data to pictures. I start trying to write out weather conditions with photos to try and pattern deer, but its time consuming and isn't really handy unless the paper is setting in front of me.

Kinda nervous about all the recent updates, but I finally had a chance to get to the woods and get my network set up. All 10 came on board without issues. Never used to use the app, but started on it also. Noticed I'm not getting the network report emails, but they're on the app, so, not too big a deal.
While going thru the app, I noticed Cuddelink product offering a G series cam for only $100. I'm still using 4 j cams that are still working fine, so this seems like a decent deal. Anything I'm missing here...

they are working on something on these lines but wont be out this year.

Just got the other new cam and the same problem. I've attached a screenshot so you can see it was sent today. I didn't bother setting the date and time. So either I am very unlucky or it's a software problem... or the new Home unit but I can't see why it would be that. The 2 cams were purchased from different vendors but I suppose they still could be from the same batch. Screenshot_20250902-160500.png

I plan to put the firmware on a different card and trying again. There was no error when doing the updates but I'll try anything.

Edit: I checked the pics off the cam's sd card and it's the same. So it can't be the Home unit.

can you pm me your log in email for camp so i can have the engineers look at this ?

Do not test your strobe cameras indoors 😬 I'd need to adjust this one if I left it there because it's too bright, but at least I know it's working.
Every single pic I got indoors where the flash went off was pure white. It didn't matter how dark it was inside.

Thanks, John 👍
