Cuddelink general Q&A recommendations

make sure you do it in camp and not on the app
The Camera off setting didn't want to take on both cameras. One is on FW 1.6 and the other is 1.7. Switching to Repeater mode worked fine. Home cam is a G series on 8.3. Might want to have the QA team test out that setting.

it should work via camp - gen 3 update and new app is coming in approx June so that will change quite a bit of functionality.

FYI. Cabela's has the L series home on clearance for $49.98. Add some cheap bobbles, hooks, etc to get over $50 for free shipping too.

I forwarded this to several buddies. Thanks for the heads up!

Now I just need a deal on another solar panel or two.

Does anyone know if this antenna can be repaired? Bears got to it. 😟 Unbelievably, it was still transmitting pics in this condition, laying on the ground. The closest camera was roughly 150 yards away, downhill.

It's an L series LL2A that's just shy of a year old.

Cabela’s has stopped carrying Cuddeback. Anything they have is leftover stock and may be gone soon, so don’t hesitate.

I got one at the way discounted price, looks like they went back up to $100 now...

Link worked for 3 day now it has not for the last 2

Has anyone else run into this? My Cuddelink plan renewed on 5/14/25. I was just billed for an overage, but it appears that I'm only at 1000-ish photos. Why am I getting the overage charge before I hit 2000 pictures?

keep in mind it only shows 14 days worth of images in camp, if you feel like you have an overage by mistake, call Cs as they can see your data usage and determine if there is an issue. The plans are data ,not image count but if you feel like you were charged in error, call them as they can see your account.

I'm only at 13 days, so I think the 14 day limit may not apply. I filtered on the billing period in the screenshot, and it only returns 1048 pics. Is there a reason the data would be almost cut in half?

I emailed support too. We will see what they come back with before I call.

you're much better off calling than emailing on something like this, it could be a mistake but everytime ive had someone dig into this type of issue it came back the correct amount of data was used. You can also see the data used in camp if you want to look yourself. Phones are slow this time of year so calling will be your quickest way to get a response. the data per dollar is about to go up not down, so it definilty has not been cut in half recently , the plans will get more images for the same dollars in the future.

I called in but was underwhelmed with what I was told. They can see that I've sent in roughly 1050 pics and used about 110MBs. There wasn't any sort of explanation as to why that number of pics seemed to eat up much more data than it has historically.

I don't want to change the camera settings (yet), as I've been happy with this configuration. I get just under the 2000pics/100MB data per month with these settings. With the change going to kick in, I'll have more overhead too.

Generally speaking, I know that the file size can very greatly based on the scene captured; lighting, colors, etc

Something else I am thinking is that the more frequent the cell rate the more it eats data.

On the other hand, for the first time ever I got repeats today, same two photos sent twice, at least according to my phone app, and camp.

Correction, make that the same three photos from two cameras, on the same node I believe.

Maybe it's AI?

Something seems off to me too. I haven't changed anything in several months. I've never changed the cell rate, so I think I have a good expectation of if/when I hit the data limit. If I was north of 1500 pictures, I'll believe the pic size variability. At just over 1000, I'd like to see an explanation. At the end of the day, it's only $5, and there are changes coming for users that will get to the more pics for the money, so I'm not going to press the issue much.

RGrizzzz, I’ve run into similar situations twice in the past four years. In both cases the solution (after noticing a camera was taking too many pictures, mostly daylight, at a higher than usual pixel count) was to reset the camera. The calls to Cuddeback never provided a solution (or adjustment), but as you noted, it was only $5 for the overage.

Overall, my Cuddebacks take fewer pictures of grass and weeds than the other brands I am/have used. I have two cameras that have been deployed over 3 years (on solar) and never touched (and several that required cleaning (ants) and/or recharging after long periods of cloudy weather in winter. I am liking the L cameras over the J, and currently run both using a G for the home camera.

But the camera network isn't taking too many pictures. Cuddeback thinks I'm using too much data, with the normal amount of pictures.
