Cuddeback's Cuddelink

No expert here but my understanding is this.

With a cell camera sending pics to email it actually stops receiving pics from other cameras while it’s connecting and sending via cell service. I’m not sure of the shutdown time. 5 or so minutes. Not a problem if you get very few pictures or have the time between pictures a cam takes set very high. If your cam is taking a pic every 1 to 5 seconds and a group of does is in front of it, it could be counter productive. The cell cam receives a pic, shuts down receiving and starts the process of sending an email.

If you have 30 pics sending one at a time the cell is shut down from receiving for 150 minutes 30x5 or 2.5 hours.
If your batch is set to 30 it only stops receiving for 5 minutes to email all of them. (Again my 5 minutes could off +/-)

Low batch numbers and high picture numbers could create a big log jam.

EDIT
Sorry just reread your post. Not sure if you have it set to send every 12 hours. Maybe it would send them all at that time rather than shutting down and starting the process over for each pic. But I have mine set to batch 31 and that’s how many pics I get with each email unless I’m getting the daily report.

I have batch set on 10, I get from 7 to 22 pictures per email.

Alright thank you, so I hunt 116 acres that seems to be primarily a travel route for deer I don’t think too many deer are calling it home. I probably only get 30 pictures a day. I know at some point a big will come through and I want the most information as possible with out destroying my batteries. I’m really banking on these cameras to tell me where and when to be out. You guys think the best option for me would be send pictures every hour?

I wish I had y’alls problem. I am lucky if I get 30 pic every 3 days. I have mine set to 30 sec. delay and send every 12 hours. I depend on the time stamp to tell me when they come through.

Might try lowering your delay. You might get a few more pics. A little corn helps too! :emoji_relaxed:

It would be hard to do from 9 hours away, haha, but I think I am getting what I need . I have seen what’s on property and I can check the non cell cameras I have out when I get there at the end of the month.

What kinda of time interval between emails is everyone getting? I’ve got a ton of emails and none are closer than 30mins, most are 45-60 mins apart. On most of my camera’s I have excellent cell service and good RF signals. I know there are lots of variables, but seems to me my intervals are nearly like clockwork.
I have mine texted instead of emailed so I dont know if there is a difference but I get texts as quick as 19 minutes apart.
Mine come about 14 min apart

Finally hit Low on the external batteries on 1 camera at 167 days. Guess I’ll change the others camera that’s at 165.

You may have to take internal batteries out and wait a min or two, to get camera to recognize new batteries.

I’ll give it a shot. I changed out the externals on a different camera a while back and shut off the camera, unplugged the external, put in new batteries, plugged back in and powered back on and it showed the external pack.

That’s interesting. The only way I can get the camera to show external is to take the batteries out of the camera, drain the power, plug in the external, put batteries back into camera and turn it on. It’s aggravating because I have to go through all my settings again.

I have a cam right now set to take 1 time lapse pic a day in addition to cuddelink mode that hasn't sent a pic since Sept 29. It still shows on the daily report and ext batteries still say ok. The last pics were a buck working a scrape, so I don't think a bear got it. It just seems odd that it hasn't had any activity for such a long stretch.

I am having trouble receiving a a report via text. It comes through but is a scrambled mess, after talking with cuddeback it sounds like it's a problem with my phone, I have a galaxy s8 has anyone else ran into this problem? I'm curious to see if there is a possible setting I could change on my phone to fix this.

I have a question about the number listed in SD Images. This number has always been greater than the thumbnails sent. At present the Home camera is showing 746 and the number of thumbnails is something less than 600. I am pretty confident I did not use burst on any camera. This also applies to all my cameras the SD Image number is greater than thumbnails sent. Can someone explain?

Ok. The last time I was at camp I set up my cell booster to kick on at different times. This was 9/28. After I did this I got a report and pics on 9/29. 9/30 I got nothing. 10/1 I got the report and pics. 10/2 and 10/3 I got nothing. 10/4 this morning I got a test email from the camera. Anyone know what this means?

My long term plan when I get back down there is to put my timer back on my cell booster to kick on once a day for a longer period as that was working well. I know I tried to fix something that wasn't broke. LOL. Anyway I should be able to view my pics on the SD card at the cell camera? As far as clearing the camera out what steps should I take to clear everything to start over?

I swapped out all my camera batteries 2 weeks ago except left the easiest access camera alone to test maximum battery life. This is a J camera with D pack screwed on. It just went to Low today, Day 135.

The transmitter is on 135 as well, with a 3358 pack which still reports OK.

Under “Commands”, Clear will erase your SD Card and reformat. Only do this on a card that you have already got data off of.

On remote camera’s, under “Link Menu”, CL Clear” erases your Transmit queue. Pictures will still be on SD card.

On Home camera, under “Cell Menu”, “CC Clear” erases transmit queue. Pictures will still be on SD card.

I reformat card (Clear), and Clear transmit queue every time I swap cards. No sense in leaving pictures in the queue to send to you, if you already have them on SD card you just pulled.

Yes, you may need longer window of opportunity for cellular service to connect and transmit. You are at the mercy of cell company. They may decide to throttle you back or switch you to a different slower tower or even stop you from connecting for awhile if their network is overloaded.

I’ve got Test email a time or two after changing all batteries out. Nothing to be concerned about.

SD images is based on the amount of data per picture. Day & Night pictures each consume different amounts of kilobytes per picture. Long explanation in prior post on this forum.

What email account do you have? Gmail, yahoo, AOL?

John, does Cudde still make the Cudde Post 3426? Also, what is the longest cord to connect Cudde Power to camera?

the cudde post mount switched to a new style, we are out of the previous style, the new one allows sliding a camera on each side on top or a battery pack on one side ,camera on the other or a solar panel on the opposite side. not sure on the total length of the cable on the cuddepower i would need to measure it.
