Crabapple timeline

Golden Hornet holds late for me as well.

I kind of wish they'd actually drop before January anyway. I dare not shake any off the limbs, that would be considered baiting in PA.
Last winter I had raccoons climb some of my trees to reach the still hanging January fruit. They did a lot of damage, so I think knocking off the fruit to prevent raccoon damage doesn't count as baiting.

I was half joking when I said that. Technically that would be considered baiting here but how would they ever prove it aside from monitoring you. If I kicked an apple on the ground towards my stand that would be considered baiting here too. As much "deer" corn gets sold locally in a no-baiting or feeding CWD area, I don't think a few apples that get shook onto the ground is going to even raise an eyebrow.

Just make swooshing noises and call yourself “Windy” when you do it..(I just happen to “bump” mine when walking by to check my cams)..or pray for weather like we’re having now (very cold+very windy)..my RK and GH trees look jus time yours still..with lotsa tracks around them..

Thats what I am focusing on crabs that drop sooner. Galarina holds promise. Sandbur's big dog and norand seem pretty good for that. Crossbow and 30-06 are good ones too. I got alot of kerr and SLN's winter crabs. I would like to see a liberty or enterprise dolgo blend or maybe galarine and dolgo. Getting some germination bags to exclude a few and try out. Probably end up top working a few m7's or g890 I have coming in this year for that. Maybe even meeting in the middle of 2 extremes like kerr x trailman. cosmic crisp x dolgo?

Still hiting the works derek? Debating buying a pa license this year and hunting milford area sgl 209. Place has done me well in the past 2 hour drive and I have a new to me 50 cal flintlock this year. Still got 2 more days in NY.

Skillcult (Steven Edholm) is selling hand pollinated seeds including some that may have good wildlife value such as Chestnut X Wickson. Most of the crosses are sold out but some interesting one remain. I have about a dozen on the way. Link below.

Yeah was out yesterday doing a few small drives. We got deer out each time but I still haven’t pulled a trigger yet. I don’t use a muzzleloader anymore as I had way too many misfires and just plain misses in easy bow range…

Very interesting, glad you shared

You want any help with your muzzleloader? Got a few tricks to make them way more reliable.

IF apple seeds are 75 cents each, I owe someone on here like 100 bucks.......

I followed his work for a few years and tried his system of hand pollinating one year. The blossoms all froze. :(. .

Memory tells me I was trying to cross Firecracker (Bill’s Red Flesh) with Chestnut.

TrailmanxChestnut would be interesting for human consumption. Two of my favorites.

Eventually I should have drops throughout the fall/winter. I planted various trees that should start dropping from September then apparently through January. They're just not old enough to produce yet.

Deer should be bunched up. If you can find them, you'll find a lot of them.

Letter of the law, Pat ......... letter of the law!! I think you're up to something ....... 👀 😁 I'm also a Pa.-er.

I can watch this tree from my recliner.
That's a pretty great chair location, Bur!! Pics are dandy.

In those next pics of the 2 deer in your home orchard, they look good. Must be eating well - not skinny.
