Kerr wasn’t dropping very well. A good handshake helped.

I suspect more like 20 years. He sold bunches red and bunches yellow at the time. Some were not hardy for me. They were seedlings with fruit up to about 3/4 inch in size. How old is that tree? 15 years?
Just curious, we planted some at my Club during Covid, we call them the Covid crabs but they are a mix of Morse crabs.
They also have some standing corn and are still digging up some alfalfa.Well, Bur - all those tracks don't lie. Picture proof of the attraction of those trees. Lots of dandy trees at your place. The deer certainly make the rounds checking for drops at all your trees. Every calorie counts in that kind of cold.

Mainly those inside cages go to waste. Golden Hornet holds almost all winter for me, but it is in the home orchard and late in the winter I often go out and knock apples off of it.You have any apples that go to waste, deer or other critters don't eat?
You grow corn every year? Saw a 2 row corn planter that caught my eye today.
Nice! That habitat looks a lot like mine except 80% of my spruce are actually over mature for deer habitat.A Dec crab update from NE WI except for Enterprise holding a smattering. These are all ok for deer size. Not showing all the smaller birdie crab still hanging with nickel or smaller fruit

And last a Siberian seedling that deer can only get the very bottom cause they do not drop but the turkeys love them in late winter. This tree is now about 20 yrs old and puts out some fruit.

My renter of my ag land is a dairyman and we try and have some corn standing through the winter on my place. He leaves some corn on his land east and west of me. He also leaves some corn on other rental acres. I usually have just about 3 acres of standing corn. You have any apples that go to waste, deer or other critters don't eat?

Great idea. I need to reuse some of those tubes.Bur,
Yes try to support young trees a bit inside the cage so the trunk/limbs don't get all rubbed up during wind events. That tree is big enough that not needed anymore but never removed them. And those are curled up old tree tubes that get that way when you slit them lengthwise to pull them off a tree. They stay in place and are more durable than a typical dead stick. And being plastic they don't rub young bark like wood to wood contact might. Just another way to keep recycling old tubes.
Great looking habitat, Rocks! Fruit trees are doing their jobs. Thanks for posting the pics.A Dec crab update from NE WI except for Enterprise holding a smattering. These are all ok for deer size. Not showing all the smaller birdie crab still hanging with nickel or smaller fruit
