This old girl would stand on her back legs and grab crab apples. She probably did it a dozen times. Her fawns and another doe and fawns would not do so.

Later on the two does were on their back legs and boxing each other over the crab apple tree.

Looks like your spruce patch is protecting your deer near the groceries. Good place to bed right next to the chow. I spotted that deer right away!

-28!!! I'll bet your deer are loving those spruce to get out of the wind, and having some fruit trees nearby.

I need to get out and do a walk thru to see where they are eating or bedding. The snow and cold makes that difficult.

Mzzle season closed yesterday and my interest dropped off for the last week or so. There was snow to shovel and ice fishing has started.

Had to double check to make sure I wasn't breaking the law this afternoon. Muzzle loader closes today sandbur, get out there for one last Crack!

You are correct. My mind was on Monday.

I have all hunting gear put away and no desire to shoot a deer at these temps. Got to ice fish tomorrow.

Retired guys got to make difficult choices!

:)

I'm envious! The warm up will be nice this week.

You get a deer this year sandbur? No -28, 27 here in NY but a bit too windy for the deer liking. Got till tuesday, then the day after christmas until new years for more muzzleloading. Not sick of the cold yet.. I can drive 2 hours and take my flintlock for walk in PA till mid january or end of january in a few spots. A few places in NY have special deer huntis in jaunary and febuary.

I thought you had a hunting blind instead of a stand? Im entering old guy status next year. Hunting in heat. IF you get a chance show us a pic of that blind. Debating what to make. Making 2.

I saw turkey creek has prime time and its different from bluehill's. That one of your finds?

Good luck on the ice tomorrow.

Prime Time is not one of my apples.

We have a home made, two man box blind where we walk across the yard and through a windbreak to approach. We shot three of the families four deer there.

I shot a doe with the rifle and passed up smaller bucks and does/fawns.

Then saw a very nice buck two days after rifle season, so I picked up the mzzle license. I had multiple opportunities at younger deer but never saw the bigger buck again.

I put on the snowshoes and did a tour today.

Violi’s is dropping and attracting deer.

This is one of Charlie Morse’s Bunches crabs. There are three of these close by. Only one seems to be attractive.

How old is that tree? 15 years?
Just curious, we planted some at my Club during Covid, we call them the Covid crabs but they are a mix of Morse crabs.

Linda Sweet wasn’t dropping any fruit. I gave the tree a brisk handshake and it worked.

A friend gave me three rootstocks . One is particularly attractive to the deer. He couldn’t remember what they were called.

Kerr wasn’t dropping very well. A good handshake helped.
