Conspiracy theorys, where do you stand?

That’s an interesting development.

This certainly fuels the flames on the narrative that the intelligence community hasn't seen Iran as a systemic threat to national security. Gabbard (this is her subordinate) said the same thing before the bombing last June.

The flip side of this, is it’s just one guys opinion. Why is his opinion any more valuable than the guys who say they are a threat. I get it cause it’s controversial or whatever but I take all these opinions at face value because none of us are privy to the actual truth.

Yeah, Kent kinda says it's because he lost his wife.

I have to assume as the director of counter-terrorism that he would have an informed opinion on the matter. Doesn't mean its any more valuable than anyone else's but it should be more informed.

Have you seen many people come out and say they saw credible evidence there was a threat? I've mostly seen people in the admin defer to Trump and say, "Trump felt..."

Feels like another possible WMD scenario, IMO.

More credible than an entire ethos about destroying Americans and Israel while at the same time possessing advanced weaponry and a blood lust for nuclear weapons? Like I said I can only put together the tea leaves I have to work with, my top secret clearance keeps getting denied. I’m absolutely not discounting this individual I’ve never heard in a role I didn’t know existed prior to today but I just want to be open about it and not assume cause someone said something like this the gig is up. But here’s another thing, even if I have a definitive opinion I can back up with facts…no one is listening to me in a position of power not matter how convincing my posts are on a habitat forum.

It’s hard to make that argument at all considering Iran has been the number 1 State sponsor of terrorism for how long? I think this guy’s got other things going on. Maybe some of that money Biden sent over to Iran has circled back to him in some way changing his perspective.

Yep, nobody here will ever know for sure.

I'm guessing this guy felt pretty confident of his position given he quit his job over it, but it's only one man.

What argument?

Jacqui Heinrich reported that he was a known leaker also.

I've seen that they don't have nuclear weapons but, want them to destroy the great satans.

When does the US have it's best chance to stop it?

Is it after they've been detonated? Then what? Bitch that it should have been stopped long ago.

I don't agree with SD's foreign policy views all the time, but he's right that this is a horribly unpopular conflict. Perhaps the messaging has even been worse than the conflict itself. Today's events don't make it any better.

Trump should look for the nearest off-ramp IMO.

The nuclear program dismantle has turned to a regime change, and then an oil heist, and then a second nuclear program dismantle, and then a naval blockade we can’t stop, then a ground force to dismantle the nuke program a third time, and now our allies won’t help bust the blockade in the Hormuz.

And we’re not even three weeks in.

It's been some pretty remarkable gymnastics, no doubt about that.

Wait until June. Haven’t seen nothing yet. Orange man doesn’t have to try to get re-elected. He’s just going for it.

November is going to be ugly unless he has 2 rabbits in his hat.

SD sorry man but would you prefer us getting nuked instead, keep giving them cash on pallets, or sticking your head in the sand? I've waited 47 years for this to happen and it's about time and watching all the past presidents kick the can down the road for the world to have a much brighter future is worth a month's of my time . My thoughts and prayers go out to our brave military. May God bless them and their families for their sacrifices and service to the country.

If this dismantling of the Iranian terrorist regime doesn't continue to it's fruition, end of the mullah control, what will stop it from continuing to terrorize the whole region?

How many here want continued war in the ME to be taken for granted. This could be the chance with nearly every muslim country wanting peace.

A face value analysis of this is always going to be missing pieces. Here's what I mean...

Do you think if we really wanted/needed our allies to get ships down to the straight of hormuz we'd just take no for an answer with no repercussions? Do you think if we really needed help we'd put ourselves in a position to get denied out in the open and in the press?

"We have this completely under control, no problems at all, probably be done by saturday. Maybe even friday. But also, we need every ally to send ships to help us get the straight open again."

We just blockaded cuba and turned out the lights with zero regard to how many people will die because there's no fuel or electricity, and we don't even have a goal in place for cuba yet.

The people that control the united states control the world. If they wanted the rest of NATO to roll hard down to the sandbox to help win this, we'd have endless cards to play to force it. We are the army or Europe. After that pipeline from Russia blew itself up and no investigation followed, we were the last supplier of gas to Europe, save for some russian gas trafficked through China.

Look at the tiniest things (meat imports, cars, from whom allies bought oil) that brought us to the brink of full on trade wars and crippling tariffs. But we've got America soldiers and equipment sitting in the box with a questionable amount of munitions left, and we're just going to take no for an answer?

Am I the only one that is puzzled by that?

I'm sure everyone in the middle east wants peace. But what do you do with the 500 million muslims and christians who also don't want to give up their land, natural resources, faith, and sovereignty?

Don't forget, everyone in the middle east has had a front row seat the last 80 years to every attack on them from isreal and the west. We've dumped weapons and money into every civil war. I maintain, that if Iran is truly still a sovereign nation, there is no option to disarm or give up their oil because they know exactly what will happen to them if they do. This is a disaster, and if we're lucky, we can declare victory and just leave.
