While Wisconsin is a bluish state, it sounds like both our senators are on board to delist them.

If the opportunity comes to remove a wolf from our Minnesota property, I'd take it. According to monitoring by the Voyageurs Wolf Project and other research in the area, specific packs that have been identified near the property in Tower, MN include:

• Arrowhead Ridge Pack: This pack recently (as of 2025 data) claimed a territory previously held by the Half-Moon Pack and produced pups in a historic den site.
• Half-Moon Pack: A long-time resident pack of the central portion of the Greater Voyageurs Ecosystem, though they were ousted from a key territory recently.
• Paradise Pack: This pack expanded its territory and now occupies an area that was previously known as the Huron territory.
• Moonshadow Pack: The Paradise Pack was founded by a male from this original pack.
• Cranberry Pack: A pack operating in the general vicinity of the Paradise and Shoepack territories.
• Shoepack Pack: A neighboring pack to the Cranberry and Nashata packs.
• Nashata Pack: A pack known for having a relatively small territory, often overlapping with neighbors.

My brother-in-laws reports more sightings of wolf than deer in the area, and no deer sightings on the family property.

It is cool that there pack names and data of their territories.

Is there any mapping data available to see those territory extents? I know GIS (geographic information systems) and would be interested creating such a portal for tracking.

There was some mapping at the Voyagers Wolf Project facility in Ely, but it was historic, not current. Sadly, some bad actors use live mapping to poach. We used to be able to monitor tagged bear movement in Missouri, but no more.

Any incidents where wolfs attacked humans? NY is still in denail there's cougars. Saw tracks about 12 years ago I swear were cougars. Big paws and tail swoosh mark in the now,

Cougars are all over. The likelihood of seeing one is probably lower than wolves just because they are by themselves for the most part.

We’ve had them pass through MN. I remember my folks seeing one or two over the years by our cabin in Phillips WI.

The DNR and general consensus is that they are roaming males pushed out from the western states with higher populations of cougars due to strict protection regulations.

Plenty of cases of them taking folks pets left outside of course. Most farmers/ranchers and some common sense homesteaders have big guard dogs that were bred to ward off wolves, coyotes or cougars to protect the livestock…everyone else don’t have that.

I’d be more interested in just showcasing wolf sightings by people across the states. Overlaid with the wolf territories and than deer data or other metrics…

Idk something be cool to visualize for people and be a public tracking source instead of relying on DNR…I’d build it for people.

The DNR did this but it was an internal collection by staff. I myself came into a 8+ pack with pups that stared me down walking on a trail to a timber stand up near Williams MN.

I remember working for a St. Paul dyed in the wool democrat that had moved to Grand Marias.

She told me that Idaho was foolish in hunting wolves and we Idaho citizens should learn to “ embrace “ the wolf.

Well she bought her some chickens……..Guess how long Mr. Fox lasted before she shot it for killing her hens?

Coming home from a fishing trip yesterday my daughter and I saw a big wolf cross the road about 100-150 yards in front of my truck. Wish I would have been going faster so I could have hit the bastard. About 9-10 miles north of Outing, MN. Looked very healthy.

Lake of the Woods is full of houses at this time...I'm only a few hundred yards from the lake, but I'm not that interested to go fishing...maybe I'll pop into a house through Adrians this weekend or Monday.

My nephew walked out of his garage one night during Thanksgiving week and came face to face with a wolf between himself and the house. This is extreme northern Wisconsin his place is maybe a mile from Little Sand Bay on Lake Superior. Deer populations are not remotely close to what they where prior to the reintroduction of wolfs up there.

I haven’t partridge hunted that area for a few years, but deer numbers seemed poor by Outing and better from Emily south. Of course, the cwd hunts are/were now in that area.
