This certainly fuels the flames on the narrative that the intelligence community hasn't seen Iran as a systemic threat to national security. Gabbard (this is her subordinate) said the same thing before the bombing last June.

The flip side of this, is it’s just one guys opinion. Why is his opinion any more valuable than the guys who say they are a threat. I get it cause it’s controversial or whatever but I take all these opinions at face value because none of us are privy to the actual truth.

I have to assume as the director of counter-terrorism that he would have an informed opinion on the matter. Doesn't mean its any more valuable than anyone else's but it should be more informed.

Have you seen many people come out and say they saw credible evidence there was a threat? I've mostly seen people in the admin defer to Trump and say, "Trump felt..."

Feels like another possible WMD scenario, IMO.

More credible than an entire ethos about destroying Americans and Israel while at the same time possessing advanced weaponry and a blood lust for nuclear weapons? Like I said I can only put together the tea leaves I have to work with, my top secret clearance keeps getting denied. I’m absolutely not discounting this individual I’ve never heard in a role I didn’t know existed prior to today but I just want to be open about it and not assume cause someone said something like this the gig is up. But here’s another thing, even if I have a definitive opinion I can back up with facts…no one is listening to me in a position of power not matter how convincing my posts are on a habitat forum.

It’s hard to make that argument at all considering Iran has been the number 1 State sponsor of terrorism for how long? I think this guy’s got other things going on. Maybe some of that money Biden sent over to Iran has circled back to him in some way changing his perspective.

I'm guessing this guy felt pretty confident of his position given he quit his job over it, but it's only one man.
