Conspiracy theorys, where do you stand?

What fun would that be?

Not judging it here. Just pointing out what should be the obvious. At least the market is back in the right direction today.

His policies seem sound I think. He’s just such a dick about all. Needlessly so in my opinion.

I can think of a few of his policies that fly in the face of American and Conservative American politics.

Also, this could very well be another North Korea-type announcement that ends up being nothing.

NATO spokesman said basically that Denmark, Greenland, and NATO all agreed in principle to never be influenced by Russia or China. It seems like that's the framework of the whatever agreement was made.

Did they pinky promise?

Seems flimsy

I'm paraphrasing of course but I'm guessing that's why Trump said this opened the door to more talks going forward.

Make a scene, throw the markets into a frenzy with tariffs, collect a small promise, claim victory, unwind tariffs... rinse and repeat.

I'm genuinely surprised there hasn't been more discussion in this thread about ICE. Turns out they think they can enter your home without search warrants:

Considering they are literally going door-to-door in Minnesota neighborhoods and arresting US Citizens even in their own homes, I would think it would be a bigger deal.

There are allot of crooks and bad actors in south Minneapolis.....that I can gaurantee you. And without some means to take these actors into custody.....they gonna keep on doing what they do. It's a dirty job....and they are getting it done. The status quo was / is not the solution....catch and release has not worked. What would you support as an action to do this job? The perps already been convicted....do you just propose we play nice with these assholes? Lock em up and deport as many of these law breakers as possible....as soon as possilble. F 'em.

Dont do the crime...if you can't do the time.

Pretty sure a game warden can enter a property without a warrant. Good thing those guys are not cleaning the streets of illegal scum or we would be against them too.

Won't be a big deal until someone shoots an ICE officer. With the stand your ground and castle doctrine I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet.

If they are breaking the law, then something should be done. Do they have warrants? Are there exigent circumstances? We are a country of laws, and I like that about America. If the laws are bad, let's change them. If someone breaks the law, they should be punished accordingly.

It seems like the Greenland thing was all about missile warning systems, and possibly minerals.

I think a mineral play in Greenland is a giant waste of time. I don't think anyone has a technology for mining under a mile or two of ice. I hope that's not part of the plan.
I'm really disappointed in the way this was handled. Denmark would have been happy to have the US increase its footprint in Greenland and would probably have helped pay for it all. The Danes are relatively humble in that regard, and they know they're a tiny country that can't defend Greenland or its territorial waters, let alone project any meaningful power into the Atlantic. They have always been more than accommodating to the US military in Greenland since WW2. Trying to bully the Danes was a HYUGE error in judgement by Trump. I hope he can make amends with them and calm this whole thing down.

As a citizen living in a Scandinavian country, I can tell you people here are very pissed off, and rightly so. Trump has seriously damaged relations with Denmark and the rest of NATO and Europe. I'm sure Putin and Xi are drooling over this mess, and I wouldn't be surprised if we found out they helped foment it.

Americans have basically been keeping Europe alive in its currents state. We (the America citizens) are working ourselves to death to send money to Europe for defense (among other things through tariffs and taxes, etc) all the while Europe gets to play everyone love everyone socialism. We work so much harder and longer in a career than the average European. Without our defense support historically, both world wars, and currently with our tech, troops and backing, we are keeping Europe from being taken over. They want to have 15 hour work weeks and free healthcare and free child care and feee everything for savages from third world hellholes streaming across “borders” AND not have to worry about spending proportionally on their militaries. I stand by Trump 100% in this. Get off the tit or if you don’t we are going to take some payment. And that payment happens to come in the form of a territory that is in our best interest to control.

First of all, we have been keeping the entire world alive, in a state of peace and economic growth since the Breton Woods agreement.

Second of all, your view on geopolitical realities is vastly outdated. The world has changed incredibly since the Soviet Union collapsed, and globalization under Breton Woods is what is hurting Americans, not defense spending.

Europeans are working longer and longer, and childcare is generally not free in Europe. The more advanced the economy, the more they struggle to pay for the Boomers with smaller generations entering the workforce. Yes, they took a lot of muslim immigrants, and they shouldn't have, but they are paying for it themselves with higher taxes. Hopefully we can learn from their mistake rather than admonish them for it. Yes, European leaders are arrogant and corrupt, and European voters are generally ignorant of geopolitical realities, but they are in the process of getting knocked off their high horse. Our government hasn't been a whole lot better, so let's not cast stones.

European defense spending has exploded since 2022, especially in Germany. It's in America's best interests to support them against the Russians. We are in a new cold war, which is a proxy war against Russia, Ukraine, and Iran. The more we help our allies, the more we help hold our enemies in check. The Ukrainians have taken the teeth out of the Russian war machine, and we should absolutely continue to support them in this.

Greenland would be incredibly expensive for us to take over. It's a terrible idea. It's much better for Denmark to pay to administer it and have it be an exclusive playground for our military, which it has been since WW2.

I 100% agree with Trump's push to get other countries to start taking responsibility for their own security, but he's going about it in a rather juvenile and ham-fisted way. His bullshit saber rattling is exactly the style of statecraft that Putin is known for. Yes, he warned the Europeans about Russia, and he was 100% right, but is gloating and lording it over them the adult way to handle the situation? These are our allies, for chrissake. I expect more dignified behavior from our head of state.
