made it home just in time to watch 3/4ths of the game. When they came back from the 11 point deficit, I was perfectly content with whether they won or lost, as I was merely thankful to have been able to watch such a great game. IMO, Izzo and Bo are 2 of the top 5 college BB coaches of all time, and I always love watching their teams play, particularly when they are playing each other. That game summed up for me how college BB should be played. Even if Bucky would get bounced early, this team has been an awesome treat for someone that has followed them for 38 yrs to watch. Regardless of what they do in the tourney, this is the best team of that 38 yr span.
As a side note, it was particularly satisfying to watch Gasser the last 46ish seconds of the game. Tell me that "meaningless game" didn't mean anything to him (I'd be shocked if they didn't have the #1 the second they sent the game into OT, and I suspect they already had it when they clawed back from 11, even if they'd lost in regulation). Him walking around with his clenched fist at his side as the seconds drained is something I won't soon forget, as it summed up for me what an average college talent can achieve if they dedicate themselves to the right team/coach and truly buy in whole heartedly. I don't pretend to know the kid, but I always saw him as the ultimate team player. Never close to the most talented on the team. He just "gets it" and seems to truly appreciate the opportunity he has earned. It's hard for me not to cheer for people like that in anything.
