Clethodim 2e to selectively kill grass in clover plot

Anyone use Clethodim 2E to selectively kill grass in a clover food plot? That is my plan this spring. Plot is in NH. I ordered clethodim on amazon and the package arrived with a little bit of leakage inside the box and wow does this stuff smell pungent (I am storing in garage and it is stinky). Anyway, has anyone used clehodim 2e to control grass taking over a clover food plot? Would you just nuke the whole thing with glyphosate and start over? Appreciate the advice.

Yes. 12-16oz/acre used with NIS or crop oil, and AMS.

As was previously stated, DO NOT spray without adequate surfactant otherwise you are pi$$ing into the wind.

Timing is also important. Cleth sprayed on 20" tall quackgrass in summer is nowhere near as effective as cleth sprayed on 3-5" tall quackgrass on the first 70 degree stretch of weather in spring.

Another option is imox sprayed at 2-4oz/acre. Can also spray with 12oz/acre of Clethodim at same time.

Another option is to spray glyphosate at 10-16oz/acre.

Agree, surfactant, yes, I purchased this also. Great points! Thanks for assistance! Will be a while before the weather is warm enough but it is worth a try when spring shows up.

If done correctly it works well. You’re not going out on any kind of limb, this is the most basic of clover plot maintenance done very very often.

ID what your trying to remove. Clethodim kills grass, but is it grass? Sedge looks like grass, but does nothing to it.

Clover makes excess nitrogen. Grass uses nitrogen. Plant rye in the fall. Spray the rye dead in the spring or not.

Clover takes chemicals several times a year for most folks. some get away with it, not many. Some add fall small grains like rye to their plots, then do a light gly spray in the spring and get a clover plot over the summer.

Clover is tough, it'll stay alive with taller grasses no problems. I knock down 4-5ft tall goldenrod at camp to see nice clover right under it in the fall. first time spraying up in that plot this fall. See if the golden rods stays up or not.
