He'd been around early fall but disappeared when the rut hit. I had set up a stand late summer to hunt him in December if I hadn't connected on a bigger one during the rut. Caught him about 1/2 mile from his normal bedding area this morning. Passed on him at first then regretted it as he walked away. A couple of grunts and he circled around and gave me a lucky second chance. He was bigger than I thought, which is nice!
Do you have any better pics of him or just the standard, rear view, half cocked, holding base and tip bed of the truck shot and the ground bushes and stick from behind shot? You know the typical poses reserved for 170” giants.
Thanks! Get the Trubond 1000b kit and follow the instructions. If you have a hide but aren't ready to tann it yet just salt it. It will keep forever once salted and dried. Salting is part of rhe sequence anyway.

I was intimidated the first time I tanned. Trubond made it easy.
Basic steps - Salt, Pickle (soak in Citric Acid and Salt for a few days), Neutralize (soak in Baking Soda), Rub Tan Solution on it. It's really as easy as that. Just follow the directions. I'd say the most difficult part is fleshing the membrane/meat/fat off of it. I fleshed this one before salting, but I think it's recommended after the pickle.
