3 people are dead already in southwest Michigan from the EEE mosquito virus. Been in the national news the past couple of days. Pretty scary stuff and only about 30 miles away from me as far as I can tell from the articles. Schools are moving activities away from dusk/dawn already.
My daughter and I need to finish putting up a blind tomorrow along with some yard work. Will be head to toe in picaridin treated clothes, soaked in deet spray and probably have the thermacell's cranked while we are stationary at the blind site.
I can only assume deer can smell this stuff from quite a ways but it will be interesting to see when we start hunting next weekend. Until the first hard frost I'll happily scare away deer versus running the risk of a bite.
