Can you paint over areas that have split already?

I painted mine in the fall and painted as far up the trunk as I could. Right up into the canopy. I painted over the sun damage as well. It didn't seem to hurt them at all.

thanks! I might try it on a few this fall.

looks like a nice steady rain approaching. too bad you couldn't have seeded yesterday or this morning.

Yea I see that!. They still say only 10% for today. Either way, its getting seeded this afternoon. A few more chances in the next few days. I'm really curious to see what we got from last weekend. Weather channel says almost 2", weather underground says 0.01".

Mauston was over 2". Necedah was between .5 and .75". I think you probably got at least an inch based on how the heavier storms were skirting NW to SE west of Necedah.

Yea I watched pretty closely and we had some of the heavier stuff over us. They got over an inch in Tomah at my parents place.

Got 4lbs of my brassica mix seeded this afternoon. Now praying for rain. Dumped almost 1.5" out of the rain gauge! Everything is looking pretty good. Now just need to luck out with some consistent rain every week. Apples are getting to and beyond golf ball size.

I see very few apples on my place after a banner year, last year.

I have some chestnut crabs, some dolgo, very few plums.

A few seedling crabs and some of the Morse bunches are producing.

Mine are all still quite young so they are just beginning to produce. Most are 4th leaf or younger. Have a couple that are 7th leaf but they don't have many apples yet. I think the late frost zapped a lot of mine this year as I had plenty of blooms. 80% chance of rain today! Hope I get lucky.

I have heard that cold winters kills the fruiting spurs. Maybe I do not have the terminology correct.

Plus heavy crops leads to alternate years. Pruning/thinning helps.

I'd be surprised if you don't get some rain today. Awfully big "blobs" on radar over this way

I sure it keeps rolling west we could use some more rain by us for sure. I am hoping to head up next Saturday to check on my fruit trees and foot plots. Then hang my cameras, change out the straps on a few stands and get ready for the season. My schedule is nuts and i don't know when I'll be up next so I'm getting things in go mode soon.

I don't need much. Any shower should get things going. More chances Monday and Tuesday also. Pretty good soil moisture by us. Everything is looking good. As long as the faucet doesn't get turned off for too long.

Moderate temps have been a huge help too.

I've heard it too. I wouldn't be surprised if that's what happened.

Certainly. That's why I'm glad I got some seed out before this next week. Still have 4 lbs to throw out. Still working on prepping some more ground for that. One more spraying and a mowing should be it.

Looks like we got some rain today. Not sure how much but it should be enough to get my brassicas going. Cool temps and a couple more chances this coming week.

Rained here today for about 5 hours off and on. We had a hard steady rain for about two and a half hours with a few downpours thrown in, not sure how much total. Pretty sure it went right on in to Juneau. Just starting to break up a bit now.
Update...pretty much looks like it is done for now. Beautiful sunset over the bluffs.

Yea it's been raining here over on Redstone for the last few hours on and off. I'm hoping we luck out and get one of the 30% Monday or Tuesday.

Ended up with just under half an inch yesterday. Should be enough to get things going.
