Not a bad idea. Hadn't thought of putting in a piece of pipe. Might have to do that. Now if I could only cut a perfect circle. :)

Next project will probably be a 6' work bench with casters so I can move it around my garage a little easier. The little metal 4' I have now is pretty worthless.

I have a rolling stool and chair in my garage.... Inevitably the little casters gunk up and stop spinning freely (the last one got PowerPro fishing line wrapped around a couple of them, it literally ended up in the garbage because of it).

I've been thinking about converting them to larger "tires" of some sort... Like 4" diameter maybe? I think they would last longer that way?

Finished my work bench this weekend. 2'x6'. $40 in wood. $65 for a similar wood one from menards. Rolls around pretty good w/ the casters. There's also 4 cross braces on the bottom too. Now I've got a little more room to put up the box blind I got from menards a while back and see how it fits on the base I built.

When I built mine some years ago, I put 3 coats of poly - varnish on the horizontal surfaces. It keeps oil, solvents, paint, etc. from soaking in if spilled or leaked. Best move I made with my bench. Just a thought - if you use your bench like I do ........ for just about everything !! ;)

Yup I was thinking about that. Will have to wait til I can keep the garage door open for any length of time. Not happening in this weather (zero degrees).

Sure is pretty.... If you are anything like me, it won't look quite that organized in 5...4...3....2....1... :)

It will probably end up looking like a storage shelf before too long!

Took the blind out of the box last night and put it together quick to see how it looked and fit on my platform. Didn't assemble all of the screws/nuts, only a couple per corner to get it to hold together. Everything looks like it should work just fine. The office chair is a bit low so I'll probably take the seat out of the stand I'm replacing and modify that to the right height. It's a swivel boat seat that is just as comfortable.

Looks good, is this going to elevated?

Yes. Either 8' or 10' 4x4's. I've got the elevator brackets already. Mounting those will be the next step.

Looks like a good setup!

A padded office chair ?? Tinted windows ?? You've made me feel like one rugged S.O.B. sitting in my wide open ladder stand !! No roof, no backrest - only a thin pad on the all-metal mesh seat. Just me & the tree. Now I feel really ............. TOUGH ?? !! o_O o_O

Heat too in the Badger Hilton ?? :D;)

This is just for gun hunting. I'm out in the open all fall for bow season, with no pad on the metal seat ;). We sit all day so might as well be comfortable! I've never used a heater while hunting but I do have a little buddy for ice fishing.

After hunting out of a blind from Menards this fall quite a bit, I did notice the walls are LOUD. If you bump up against them they kind of sound like a drum.

Before next season I might add some thin plywood (sub floor?) to the walls from the windows down. Just to create a surface that isn't quite so noisy. Nothing fancy, just a rectangle glued and or screwed to the walls.

How much moisture, if any, got into yours John?

Some thin foam insulation would be lighter and it would probably deafen sounds a little better than plywood.

Disappointing that the office chair is too low. We had planned on putting one in the pentagon model my dad bought. Is that your complete platform? We were thinking of building our platform with a landing deck on one side and about a foot wider than the blind on the other sides.

Yea I think so. Still debating on whether to build one of those porches but will probably leave it as is. It's no different than our current setups basically. Just kind of crawl into the stand.

The pentagon I built this year, I put a trap door through the floor. It isn't perfect, but it works.
