Which part of the difference between common with specific varieties and “across the board” did you not understand? Lol.It isn't okay to say b118s lean at sites with good soils across the board.

lol dude. I know your kind. Northeasterner. Not worth arguing with. Have a great weekendWhich part of the difference between common with specific varieties and “across the board” did you not understand? Lol.
Perhaps you can explain to everyone why another extremely respected Northeasterner, who grows the trees a huge number of members here are dying to buy the moment they come available, switched from growing his wildlife on B118 to dolgo?lol dude. I got about 50 trees done in the snow and cold last weekend. It was actually very enjoyable, despite the moisture.I had calendared getting out this evening to prune some apple trees and then figuring out what scions I have to offer, but in the words of my wintertime idol Yukon Cornelius (of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer movie fame), "It ain't a fit night out for man or beast". Only one more week of polar vortex here, I hope!
Let me know if you strike out on Belle de Boskoop.Folks,
I am getting Liberty apple scion already (thanks, gunfun13!). I am still looking for Belle de Boskoop and William's Pride (1 stick of each). I promised some Zima Khurma persimmon (cold-hardy American/Asian hybrid) to someone already but still have some more if anyone wants it.
Thanks!
Thanks, sure, will keep you posted.Let me know if you strike out on Belle de Boskoop.
I have some grafted on wild crabs. I can go out and check to see if I already pruned them, or have useful wood left, if no one else has any.
I've got some Williams Pride scions available, and am interested in that persimmon for a small American persimmon seedling I have. Is grafting those like grafting apples?Folks,

Fantastic! I'll PM you my address and please PM me yours. As for grafting, I am not sure how similar it's to apples (I will be doing apple grafting for the first time this season!) but when I bought my Zima Khurma scion from Cliff England (a wonderful guy by the way), he (a) told me that persimmon should be grafted when the temperature is 70-85 degrees and the tree is at least partly leafed out and (b) sent me instructional videos of himself doing the grafting (see links below). I followed his instructions and the graft took from the first try. The only thing I did do in addition (because he told this to me separately) is I "bled the tree", that is, made a ~3-inch vertical slash on the trunk next to the ground -- this is apparently to allow excessive sap to flow out. Anyway, here are the videos he sent me that I followed:I've got some Williams Pride scions available, and am interested in that persimmon for a small American persimmon seedling I have. Sorry, forgot to note couple other bits of instruction from Cliff: "you graft when the temps is about 70 to 85 degrees and the trees have at least partly leafed out and it during a dryer period usually in Late May thru the first week of July, But no latter or the grafted tree will not have enough time to harden off before the freeze". I think I grafted mine in the beginning of June. And, regarding the bleeding: "This is only necessary in walnuts and Pecans it is rarely an issue with persimmons and Pawpaws but you will know once you cut off the top of the tree you need to make an observation of whether or not the sap is pooling or flowing heavy more so it is a problem if it has been raining like it has here for the last 2 days and then only then would you cut vertical slash up or down the base of the seedling about 2 inches from the base up about 6 inches that’s all just a bleeder and the tree will heal over in the same summer"Fantastic! Please note there is some controversy regarding whether one should graft persimmon to branches or multi-graft them. So if that's your intention, check the Internet before you decide. I grafted mine on the rootstock directly so my entire tree is Zima Khurma now.
Thanks, sure, will keep you posted.
No one else has responded about Belle De Boskoop, so yeah, I'd appreciate it if you could check when you have a chance. If you do have some to send (I only need 1 stick, perhaps two in case I screw up), I'd be happy to pay for S&H since I am not sending you anything back. Thanks again!Let me know if you strike out on Belle de Boskoop.

Apparently you’ll get your weekend back to prune those trees! Wolf quota filled fast and season ends tomorrow already. My scion collecting plans have met yet another setback. A judge here in Wisconsin ordered the DNR to hold a wolf hunt before the end of this month. The application period closed Saturday. When I woke up this morning, I discovered that I had drawn a tag. I have through this Saturday to hunt. I'm not likely to see any late-hanging apple trees where I am heading, but I will take my nippers along just in case.
I still have some Zima Khurma persimmon scions. I described them in one of my earlier posts -- take a look and let me know if you want them. Cheers!I'm hoping to get some persimmon scions. My plans to buy apple/pear rootstock this year might have been put on hold until after we build our house. Scions I have:

Arkansas Black
Yates
Keener Seedling
Pears:
Kiefer
Dr. Deer
