Experience with dwarf G41 and supporting

yoteslayer

A good 3 year old buck
Hello all,

I ordered a dwarf Zestar! On a G41 rootstock from Cummins that is shipping this week.

Questions...

How do you support a G41 dwarf tree? Tie it with string to conduit? What size diameter conduit and what length?

Any other advice for this is greatly appreciated..

I would use a t-post and use a cloth (rope) or plastic tree tie.

I went to some commercial orchards recently, and they tie their trees with a figure-8. It prevents choking the tree while allowing less slippage than a simple loop.

Thanks gents! I assume a taller T post than the standard 6 footers, Prof Kent. Then again I dont know how tall this tree will end up, but I guess I could replace the t Post down the road.

A piece of 10ft electrical conduit would work for a post.

We like the conduit because the knobs and irregularities on t posts cause bark rubs when the tree moves against any tyes also at the top of post wind will rock the tree back and forth and almost saw off any growth above
