Hey j bird, Was checking out this pic, noticed that the grass stalk on left is still green. Does that stalk still have a node higher up and we just cant see. Or is there another reason for this? Interestd as I also have started to play with Miscanthus

West central il. Been hot. Planted 108. about 8 up, but not very big. I had killed area with glyphosate prior to planting. planted 3-4 inches deep. soil is a heavier clay.

I've been following this, but have a question. How long after planting the rhizomes would you give up on them if they have not had any top growth?

Update: The elderberry kept indoor in water prior to planting (pot) has 75% growth (3/4 sprouting green) vs outdoor in pots only about 50%. Nearly every dogwood pushing out green. About 80% OF arrowwood, but only 2 of 7 of the buttonbrush. No hopes for any of the outdoor direct planted as temps...

That is a rough cut Kunz mower. That canary grass is between 5 and 6 foot. I've kept the orchard areas clean as I could. But today went out to west side of Property. Grass had not been cut all year, I've taken to putting trails through the grass which seems to encourage deer trails.
