I built these 6 boxes for some beaver ponds I have in my property. 7D42D30D-DDE8-4D0E-9EF6-B3A59AF00E1A.jpeg

I decided to use plywood and cap them with flashing after getting the price of a 1x10 cedar board.

I’m using 1” conduit as a pole.

Hopefully I’ll get many years use out of them.

Very nice, well done!

Nice,I ordered some kits from Greggs wood duck houses for cheaper than I could buy the wood.I like the pipe mounts, hope it keeps the raccoons out.I put mine up and we hundreds of wood ducks then my swamp went dry last year.Did you put screen inside for them to climb out and pine chips?

Very nice, I like the flashing idea. I’ll have to do that on the next ones I build. I also use scraps of plywood. I add a chunk of bark/ slab wood to the front. I think it helps when they 1st inspect the boxes.

This place has them ready to go for $20 less than what Fleet Farm sells them for: https://www.runnings.com/backyard-boys-woodworking-inc-wood-duck-house-bbw12.html Shipping isn't too bad if you don't have one near you.
I can get kits here in WI for $35 but they're pine. https://www.wisducks.org/product-category/wood-duck-boxes/

Btw...the ducks love to sit on the tops of mine. I wonder if they'd tolerate the flashing, especially if hot. Sure would make them last longer though 🤔
