Wild Turkey population is tanking across most of its range

Nothing wrong at all with that attitude, but to me it is a little odd - there is no legal to hunt creature on my place that I dont enjoy pursuing - from crawdads crows. 😎
Especially the crawfish. That's got to be one of the top 1 best tasting animals on earth.

Our field an hour ago. Rock on. The 1 on right was a long beard. We were in there moving a blind for turkeys next month. I think they started moving in today.

I got an idea…let’s make a video on how we can decimate it even further. He’d promote a colon cleanse if they gave him a nickel. Top 2-3 biggest sell outs in the outdoor industry. These shells should 100% be illegal.

Looking at your youtube feed. So would Jason Isbell. I loved him back in the day, Now he's just a liberal soap box. He's got to or his attractive, talented wife would surely leave. He's an ugly sum' bitch.

I love isbell even if he can be insufferable. Greatest songwriter of our generation. She was worthless. Only reason anyone knew her name was cause of him

Agree to disagree! I lived in Nashville and wrote for a good period. I could care less about either one of them, but he’s one of those who got just enough recognition over a song a two to think he was somebody and then ego took over. Look at Ryan Bingham. Dude was incredible and then got a spot on Yellowstone. Left his wife and kids for a younger girl on set and now he’s put out very little musically and it sucks!

Agree isbell is good. But I don’t listen to him much now. He needs to just not talk when not singing.

I haven't heard of any of the people in the past 4 or 5 posts and I do listen to a fair amount of country music but I'm not into the writers and behind the scenes stuff.

What percentage of hens are laying eggs? What percentage of those eggs are viable? And, have those numbers changed at all over time? While predation and habitat is looked at, I think we need to see if there is a problem with that leg of the stool. Turkeys explode in some suburban areas and end up nesting under benches and other terrible nesting sites. Those areas are loaded with feral cats, possums, and coons. Yet, turkeys somehow still become a nuisance animal in some places. I think the disease aspect needs to be looked at more closely, both from how it may kill turkeys, to how it can affect fertility.

Cover me up by Jason isbell is best song of last 10 years. Morgan wallen did a cover of it that’s awesome too.

Jason is from Alabama. He had a song called Alabama pines that speaks to me also.

It’s multi factorial for sure.

That said, habitat is number one and that pretty much backed up by every scientist I’ve read.

Turkeys are habitat generalists.

Turkeys are habitat generalists.
I disagree with the way you phrase that.

Turkey have the most nuanced habitat requirements of any game species I have seen. They need tall trees for roosting. Thick grass for poulting, more open grass for rearing, and open pasture for eating.

They are general in the fact that they need almost all habitat types to survive.

Habitat generalists is a scientific term. We learned it in Introduction to Wildlife Management courses. There are also Habitat specialists.

I took that same course my man. I still disagree with the way you use it.

It’s fine to disagree.

You have been pushing that you don’t think lack of habitat is why you are not seeing turkey on your farm. Most here have disagreed with you. You must not want to change your farm and that’s fine. I just disagree.

Habitat is king. Clear cut some timber. Burn. Plant native grasses. Preserve hardwoods on ridges near water. And you will have turkey.

I have all that.
