Who is planting this weekend?

I planted a plot we tilled to level out on 8/9, with Green covers brassica plus and some forage collards. Dad disked and/or tilled two small plots that needed to be redone on 8/22. They were doing decent last weekend. He drilled rye and black oats through clover on 8/28, and it looked good as well. We've been lucky to have enough rain to get these plots going, with a drier than normal fall in North Central PA.
Follow up to the planting on 8/9. Grew well, except for the parts the deer ate!

Hopefully the drilled Rye and Cosaque Oats put on some growth in the spring.

Got 60 bags wheat and a little clover planted over 20 acres the last two days. Got the first rain in 20 days going right now. Hoping for the best.

Are you getting this rain today out at your place? We’re getting heavy rain both at home and out at the property. Prediction is 3 inches total today. This should finally end the drought. Two nights in a row I’ve seen bucks chasing does at home and one big buck who no one in the neighborhood has ever seen before has been around two nights in a row chasing does. Looks like things are getting going in Missouri.

All going south of me. Chance of a scattered shower tonight but they never seem to amount to much

We got a really good rain yesterday but I elected to wait for the next one. I was so dry I really needed to wait. As of now, there appears to be several days of rain coming about a week out. I hope to plant next weekend if the forecast holds.

I got that storm yesterday we got a decent amount of rain out of it that we really needed been a dry late summer/fall

This has been the second consecutive disastrous fall plotting season for me. From my late August planting, I didn't get a consequential rain until after we'd had our first hard frost.

Had a couple showers that whole time that each threw down 0.3-0.4", but temps went right back up into the mid-80's with breezy sunshine immediately afterward. On to 2026.

That sure sucks. We were lucky here this year, but the last couple years were dry and my plots sucked.

The only silver lining to your situation is that sometimes those crappy food plot years can still produce some bucks for the freezer or wall!

I was very fortunate that after my initial planting and drought afterwards that I was lucky enough to time a great rain and broadcasting a couple hundred pounds of seed. I might have the best plots in the area this year - and plenty of deer in camera including a couple nice bucks. Mostly luck but I went from total failure to good results. Already harvested a nice doe.
