Weed Pro Tree Mats

Hey habitat friends. Has anyone used the Weed Pro Tree Mats? I'm giving up on my orchard food plot this year and focusing on the 20+ trees it. They'll all get tree mats, mulch and a full schedule of sprays from now. Just looking for some insight since I'm sure some of you have used them. Thanks guys!

I use this and cut into 6’x6’ squares. Get 50 weed mats out of it for $2.40 each. If you’re looking for a smaller mat, the 4’x300’ is $80, just over $1 per mat. That’s what I use for shrubs and spruce.

This is what I've done also. I bought the 300' rolls for planting cuttings into, for my fruit treees I cut a 4' square.

I put about a dozen on spruce that had made it. Beautiful day. Unbelievable that it’s February.

Geez… I am such a cheapskate. I used a cheap weed mat material from Tractor Supply or Amazon that is 36” wide x 50’ long. It only cost about $9.00 and I cut it into 42” lengths which seem sufficient to cover the area inside my wire cages. This works fine for my purposes, but I do round-up around the edges of the wire cages. I try to keep the material inside the cages so when I mow, I am not catching the edges of the material in my blades. No matter the details, I think these mats help a lot for newly planted trees.
