Vendor Recommendation Library

I thought it would be a good idea to make a compilation of suppliers you've worked with and can recommend to others for sourcing food plot supplies, seed, etc. I spend a lot of time looking at various vendors and thought I'd be nice to have a library of sorts to refer to of reputable vendors. Might be nice to include other habitat essentials too, such as trees, herbicide, equipment etc. Hopefully this can be helpful for those out there sourcing the essentials or a good starting place for those just starting out.

I'll throw a few out

Coldstream Farm - wholesale trees
Welters - Food plot seed
Whitetail Crabs - Deer Specific fruit trees

2nd the Cold Stream Farms for wholesale trees
Blue Hill and Whitetail Crabs-Whitetail-specific trees
Merit-seeds
I’ll throw this one out there-Browning trail cams

Merit seed, Nature's Seed for food plot seed.
I occasionally order from Deer Creek or Hancock.
Had a good experience with Whitetail Crabs for wildlife trees.

Look up Shoup for any planter or drill parts. Lots of other equipment too. Great place to work with.

Logan Labs in Ohio for soil tests that show more than just NPK recommendations.

Need a few different seeds of smaller quantities, outsidepride
Want a handful of bareroot fruit trees and a dozen or two rootstocks in one order, mehrabyan nursery
Your state fishy on certain herbicides or pesticides or good old lead splitshot for fishing, amazon doesn't seem too bothered most times.....
Cant find a good selection of zone 2 or zone 3 trees, saint lawrence nurseries.
Ammo or reloading, I've been happy with grafs or wideners
Want apples for you and deer at a decent price, turkey creek trees

I think all mine are repeats but I recommend

Welter Seed and Honey foodplot and switchgrass seed. Great people.
Greencover seed
Northwoods White Tails for switchgrass seed
Prairie Moon Nursery for native grass and forms mixes
Keystone Pest Solutions for herbicide, they are on Amazon too

I’m about to pull the trigger on top link and tilt kit for my tractor from FitRite Hydraulics.

I think this is a great idea Newbie, but if we could have a page where we could add all the vendors onto one page as a quick future reference. Of course I do not know how to start this page but hopefully someone does.
With that said I would add Hancock Seed and Missouri Department of conservation for tree seedlings.

Seed I like Welter and elk mound they are awsome. Deer creek is decent
Trees and shrubs Whitetail crabs, Midwest deer trees, Bluehill, Paint creek and Wallace Woodstock.

Many years experience with Welter and Alseed for seed. Quality and efficiency marks are high for both.
Greencover has been excellent, have done business with them two seasons.
Keystone Pest Solutions gets high marks for chemicals.
Had good experiences with Ernst, Merit.

Many years experience with Coldstream for nursery stock, and experience with them has been mixed. Some crappy stock, some species mixed. Planted many magenta crabs procured from them over a few seasons, purportedly would produce 1/2" fruits - they wound up bearing fruit the size of BB's. I have heard they had operational problems for a few years and they've since been remedied, but I haven't ordered from them for at least six years.

Have had excellent nursery stock from Alpha Nurseries and Chief River.

For plot seed, I've been a fan of Welter's for a number of years now. Happy customer here.

For wildlife fruit trees - Blue Hill, Cummins, and SLN have been our go-to nurseries - with great results from all 3. We also bought a few trees from ACN - (see below). ACN trees were our biggest as shipped.

For "people" eating apples - Cummins and ACN (Adams County Nursery - Pa.) are super vendors. ACN is on the Penn State list of nationwide preferred fruit tree nurseries. They supply commercial orchards with stock, so they have to be very good. ACN does field trials for new hybrids from university breeding programs - that doesn't happen with just any nursery. I have no affiliation with any of these nurseries.

Ernst Seed for wildflowers, native plants.

Very happy with the above vendors.
