UP MI no doe permits for the bow season

It looks like the MDNR has stopped doe permits for the UP for the up coming bow season. It's a start but don't you think if they want more deer they would cut out doe permits totally?

I would assume they are unless they use the doe tags as a means to make guys buy a license to apply for the lottery.

for the record.. Menominee county will or deer management 055 will still have all kinds of doe permits. And was up there this weekend and guys were complaining about the doe permits. They haven't had doe permits in most areas in a while, and the archery tag was the only way you could shoot a doe anywhere with a bow only. I personally think it's like going in for heart surgery and waking up to find a band aid across your sternum. Probably one of the dumbest things I have seen the Michigan DNR do in a long time. Eliminate the "doe" option for bow hunters in the UP, that is the silver bullet?? You want to talk about a bunch of monkeys on rollerskates, thank you michigan dnr.

I think monkeys on rollerskates would be quite amusing, what these state DNR's are doing to manage their deer herds I do not find amusing whatsoever. Feel good, Band-Aid management has to go. Removing the opportunities to harvest a deer with a bow(the kill numbers would be minimal at best, I think it said like 6,000), is just a feel good effort that will have no real impact on long term numbers, or it will take years to see that impact at best. Stop the antlerless slaughter by the orange army and you will be doing something relevant that will have an impact.
