Finally got the bow out to shoot.

I am not posting to brag, but more as a note to enjoy and feel blessed for having the mental and physical strength to accomplish this after not shooting for almost a year. I know a lot of guys have to hang up a bow as they age due to strength/injury issues or possibly eyesight issues. First 4 arrows of 2025 at 20 yards were good. I worry the day will come when they won’t be nearly as good. I miss shooting on a regular basis year round, I just never seem to make the time until I feel I need to. I never want to make a lack of practice or general ability my reason for wounding a deer. Yes it can happen even when we are in top shape, but I believe it certainly makes a clean kill highly probable. Get those bows out and get to shooting if you aren’t already. Season is almost on the doorstep!

I agree with the purpose of your post. I started practicing with the bow last month. My shoulder is not doing well and my accuracy is not what it used to be after dropping from 70# to 56#. It’s likely all in my head, but I’ve decided to have fun, and am mentally limiting shots to 25 yards so when I am in the field I’ll be more circumspect than prior to my shoulder injuries. If all works as planned, I am going to try to harvest at least one deer with archery, rifle and muzzleloader, a personal trifecta of fun.

I am currently pulling 60# on my Elite Hunter, which has a great left off at the end of draw cycle. I probably only shot 20 arrows that 1st night and I was sore the next day. It will take some work to get back into shape to be able to shoot several times a week.
