U won’t believe this.

This envelope enclosed a tax on mineral rights in Texas.

It was a 64 cents postage stamp.

It is a bill 4 NINE cents!

$0.09 if I don’t pay it it will go up to $0.12

Step 1. Charge resident 9 cents for mineral tax.
Step 2. Pay USPS 64 cents to send it.
Step 3. Pay salary to government employee to process tax bills.
Step 4. Profit

I just googled, and cash must be accepted for all taxes. Tape 9 pennies to a piece of paper and mail it back.

Did it have a phone number? You could call it and ask for more details to justify 9 cents.

Send them 10 cents, then they gotta spend 8 dollar in time n postage to send ya a penny back.

Philips scooped up as much mineral rights here in NY in the 1960's.

Mineral rights in texas are probably more worthwhile. Cant even dig a hole to poop here in NY without enviromental BS, litterally.

I don’t think I underpaid them…..the bigger bill I paid months ago.

Maybe this nine cents deal means more royalty coming down the pike!

If there is interest involved by the time they get the money owed it will have another penny in interest and you're back to spending more for postage than the amount they want. Never ending. If they would accept a credit card payment so the money gets to them immediately is about the only way to end the madness.

Be glad you're getting notified and not just fined. I got pulled over in NC and the ticket number on my ticket didn't match the number in their system. I ended up paying almost double the original cost because of court fees before I had it all taken care of. Should have been about $200 and I paid about $400. I was told if I wanted to make it right to get a lawyer...ok, for $200?
