The Throw n’ Mow Method

l Always throw clover in anytime I seed a field. It takes time, Even if it has a low survival rate, lb of seed vs benefit to foodplto is very high. Cheapest fertilizer on the market............

How long are you guys waiting after spraying 2,4-D to seed? I've read residual effect on clover for 30 days, but I seem to remember people planting earlier. I cannot track down the thread I read it on.

I got a first spray done about 2 weeks ago. Found a bunch of sedge and marestail that made it through round 1 of spraying. My plan is to hit it with Gly/Sedgehammer/2,4 mix this weekend then throw/mow first week of august if things work out the way I hope.

I just did a burn down on a .5 acre field that I’m planning on putting in a fall blend. Should I burn it then broadcast before a rain or let it regrow some, broadcast my fall blend then spray gly again? I don’t have access to a disc harrow or drag anymore so looking for the best option. There isnt a whole lot of seed/soil contact currently. I appreciate the input!

Brassica blend

Just tie some branches together, tie them to your car, and drag it that way. Brassicas are small, they’ll shake down thru. Trust me, you’ll end up with way too many germinated.

I may be more conservative but I have always doubled that - 2 weeks if spraying at 1 Pint/Acre - 4 Weeks if spraying at 1 Qt/Acre.

^ The voice of reason. Rock Star in the house!! Geez it's good to see you over here again WT. Been a while. I think you offer such sound advice (most to the time...grin). Come and visit here more often! ....best.

Thank you CnC and all others that have participated in this wonderful thread. Completed 9a of “throw and mow” Sunday afternoon. Cereal rye, a small bit of leftover wheat and oats, some chicory, plantain, YBSC, balansa, crimson clover, and a bunch of leftover oddball seeds to clear out the barn inventory - radishes, lespedeza, crown vetch, alfalfa and whatever else I had.

Of course, right on cue, the 70% likely rain for today turned into zero percent just minutes after the last cultipacker pass. And the extended forecast, which looked excellent a week ago, looks like crap now. Plot already looks markedly browner than it did two days ago.

Not sure why my pics are upright on my phone but rotated when I post here.

I have the same problems with pics, I tried getting to the bottom of it with @RGrizzzz but didn't have any luck.

Waying in on the photo issue. Never had a problem in the past, but the other day it wanted to rotate all my pictures. After the file is loaded here and before you hit insert I think you can edit from in that small box.

I don't see that option. I turned my phone sideways and took a pic and when I went to post it, it was in the correct format. Because I never take pics with my phone sideways, I found a work around to the sideways posted images were to take a screenshot of my picture and post that.

Ok I just tried a photo. Upload, right click the thumbnail it will give you options. Click on "more options" that one will give you an "edit" option.

That doesnt work when posting from my cell phone (which is where my pics are), where I do all of my forum browsing on.

Brian I just tried to upload a picture from cell phone that was sideways as well. Do you have an idea how to correct it?

If you're having a problem with pics being rotated, please share how you're uploading (phone/PC/which browser) and we can look into it some more.

I open the picture in my gallery and take a phone screenshot of the picture. This creates another file of the picture (original picture and screenshot), when I post the screenshot it posts the correct orientation.
