SWCD trees

BuckSutherland

5 year old buck +
I ordered 10 white cedar trees from the Meeker county SWCD. These suckers are impressive! Everything they had there looked great. Majorly regret these stupid little 4,6,10, and 20 plugs for the first 5 years of owning land. What a waste of time they were. If we would have ordered 30-50 of these per year we would have been much better off and did way less work. I have cages and weed mats waiting for these. Gonna be busy next weekend. $10 each. Worth every penny.

that's good stuff...

Looking to find some for this fall/winter planitng

Found some at Gingerich Tree Farm in Arthur, IL for $12 per tree in a 3 gallon pot.

Wood county, Ohio cancelled their sale due to Covid-19.

On Monday evening when I was finishing up checking on everything I noticed that I had 3 of the 10 cedars I planted had fresh deer hair laying by them already. I might switch my post out to 6' T post and 3 heavy duty zip ties on each. White cedar is an absolute magnet for our deer. I planted them in soil where I see them naturally thriving by us. They should get 10+ hours of full sun each day where I put them. I will probably get a few more next year and place one close to each stand. Even I like the aroma from them.

The care you take to cage them off is impressive. That's a lotta work and effort. I know it'll be worth it, but dang, you're committed. Good work.

between a couple of properties, we probably wanna plant 250 of them. That's a lotta holes and chicken wire

My plugs have exceeded the SWCD trees long term. Much better survival. That being said, if you baby them and protect them they should do well.FDDDC3CE-C9BC-4185-9ED5-636997B174E9.jpeg
