Still Working Scrapes?

H20fwler

5 year old buck +
I've still got a fresh scrape, it surprised me today when I went to pull the card and saw the dirt pawed up.
Had three little bucks and a bunch of does that hit it in the last week.
And what's crazy is some of the bucks in the area have shed already?

I dont get it either. Its never stopped on this one. All through gun, mzldr, gun doe seasons. They just keep coming. There was five bucks at 3 am today and 3 at once sparring.

One of those was caught by my fallen evergreen at 630 am this week and u can see in the pic its still light at the scrape. 430 pm

That one buck is a nice one!

The scrape they hit the most here is forty yards into the woods, it was about the size of the hood of my truck during early November. It's about half that size now...third year it has been in that same spot.
I think every deer that comes through the woods stops by it.

H20 - Third year in a row, huh ?? ^^^^ Sounds like a " sirens screaming, red-lights flashing " clue to me. I might be strapping-in a stand just downwind of there !!! ;)

Total opposite setup here. Its in the wide open and in 5 years with roughly 75 bucks picked up on that camera it is only the second daylight buck on camera.

Great for inventory. Bad for a crime scene.
Either way I am happy that 3 shooters are still alive.

I've got one thirty yards from it!
I put it up a couple years ago, thirty feet up in a huge white oak. I've seen lots of deer traffic while in it just haven't seen one of the bigger ones come through while I'm there yet.
I think the branch above the scrape gets used year round by all the deer. I just put a camera on it last fall for the first time, going to leave it on it year round it's at a great trail intersection.

I don't get it...but he is still working it. Unfortunately 2 to 4 am and then seems to be going back through my woods to bed. I did get him at 415 PM about a week ago coming out, right past my stand. So there is still hope.

This guy walked past that same stand at 6:30 am this week. I don't put much stock in late season mornings, especially with my land setup. He gives the doe a quick bump at the end of the video. In the next two she runs off then back through as he stands there loud and proud.

I agree with afternoons being better for late season hunting, the exception here is ML season when they get some pressure to get them moving.
My buck scape pics lately have been mostly at night too.

They are still hitting them in MO. During daylight too.

Sure are Slick! I just got down here. This was a few days ago.

I wish they would lay low now that I'm done for the year!!!

I am trying yet, well not really, but we are hunting for a few hours in the evenings on the soybeans. Just in case one comes out with all his tines in tact. Seen a lot of busted up bucks. Saw a 13 pointer that had only 6 tines in tact, 7 broke off. Bad part of this time of year down here at our place.

Our ML season starts Saturday, I've got what would have been a decent nine with three points broken off left side at the main beam on camera the last couple weeks.

I'm not die hard enough to sit up in a stand in the crazy cold with a bow this late in year, I will with a ML. A good reason for me to build a nice shooting house up high. Times like this almost make me reconsider passing on OK bucks earlier in the season waiting out a possible big one...dang trail cameras!
