Picked up 500# of lime today. Probably do that once a month over the next couple of months. Depending on their application rate I’ll more than likely take my dump trailer to the quarry to get a few tons later this fall.

I'm no AG guy, but adding pelletized lime on top of snow worked for us at camp. Maybe add some of that in winter too?? Snow melt seemed to get the lime into the soil quicker at our camp. Beyond that ... I'm no help at soil test formulas. Good luck with your plot, though!

Turns out that it isn't going to be to bad to amend the soil. They gave me the recomendation of 8000#/acre to get to about a 6.0 PH
The plot is only about a 1/4 acre so 1 Ton of ag lime. The quarry that the best AG lime in our area come from is only about a half hr away. In about 20 days the alfalfa will come off again and I'll be able to drive a truck and trailer to the plot and dump the Ag lime. They said let it go two years and pull a sample again.

Got my last two plots in this week and caught a couple of good showers. Only thing I have left now is overseeding a few plots with cereals. Probably do that the last week or so in September. Will depend on the forecast.

Overseeded a soybean plot yesterday with crimson clover, berseem clover, groundhog radish, purple top turnips, and cereal rye.

Just broadcast and pray for rain. Not perfect but it works with the right seed varieties.

Overseeded one plot with rye and 1 with triticale about 10 days ago and did catch a few nice rains.

This is the plot the day I planted the rye.
Deer in the plot every day. I haven’t noticed any feeding on the turnips or radishes but they are hammering the clover and sunflowers.

I was gonna say, you're gonna need to get some of that canopy off so those grains can get a shot of light.

Yes. Looks like a lot more than there really is however. The Barley heads have a yellow tint to them when pollination is taking place.

If you really look close at the other picture you can pick out the bolting turnips.

Do you remember what this barley was called? Was it MN-Equinox or SB151?

I don’t think the variety I planted in the picture is available anymore. It was 6 row winter and awnless. That’s about all I remember
