With this seemingly early spring when are you MN guys planning on Planting your cuttings?

As soon as I can get a crow bar or metal rod in the ground to create a pilot hole.

Art, have you tried putting a shovel in the dirt lately?

With the cold nights, I'm wondering if our ground is freezing up again?

I wlalked out tonight and got a crowbar about 3 inches into the ground. It is on an exposed, very gradual north slope. I have a pile of willow cuttings waiting in shade under a spruce tree to go into the ground.

Snow tomorrow!

That's not good! I was hoping to be able to get those trees from you in the ground on Wed. :(

Maybe the weed burner would melt it? :D

I planted 100 that Ruskbucks gave me yesterday. I had a large steel bar and sledgehammer to pound through the frost in most places. There in....wait and see. Drastic difference between sunny and shaded spots rigjt now. 2 weeks and we got very little sap running too. The frost is still deep.

Frost is way deep at our place too. I've never seen our parking pad as muddy as it is right now. My truck has never rutted it before - it's tearing it up just driving in now. And the freezing nights keep on coming...
