PA Sunday Hunting Ban is over

I think they will be implementing it this fall as it goes into effect on September 7. Pretty excited about this one..my brother has been keeping an eye on this for a long time (even joining some anti-Sunday hunting Facebook groups to troll them) and said the first comment on the group said something like “gonna be alot of divorces over this one.” Haha

I hope so. That would be amazing if it's this fall. I saw talk of "expanding" it this fall but not sure what that meant. My dad was an anti sunday hunting guy. I asked him why he wouldn't want that and he said he wanted a break. 🤦‍♂️. I said then stay home, you don't have to go. Interested to see if it's public and private or just private.

Happy for you guys, was a horrible law.

Pretty happy about this! I sometimes get out in the afternoon after work to hunt on the weekdays, but it's few and far between. Can't tell you how many Saturdays in archery it's been a downpour only to have Sunday being beautiful with a nice buck walking up my driveway in the morning. I just hope they don't slow roll it and open a few at a time to "study the impact".

Finally! My days of letter writing are over! 😀

I'd be shocked if they didn't open all Sundays for scheduled seasons this year. Chances are, there are only a few Sundays that might have a significant impact on harvests.

I was reading some social media comments to the governor's announcement of this (I know, I should know better). The amount of folks worried they'll now be gunned down going for a hike was pretty hilarious. Like what do you think happens in all 49 other states? We just murder dog walkers left and right? I mean we've all had those mountain bikers come through and thought about it... but still. haha jk

Exactly. People are terrible at understanding probabilities. You're much more likely to die in a car accident driving to your hike, than getting shot by a hunter. By the time most gun hunters are afield in PA, most people are done hiking because it's too cold.

Haha I read those too. Almost every state park has a non-hunting area. I am curious to whether it'll be for all public lands or just private.
