Orange Jewelweed. You should see that heavily browsed.

Awesome! It has exploded in some of my areas with now opened canopy down in a wetter area!

Yep, that's where you will find it.

Here is a tip for you - It comes back from seed every year and germinates kind of late spring to mid summer. Keep watch and learn when it germinates. When you start getting competition that chokes it out, spray the competition with gly a few weeks before it germinates. You will get that explosion of Jewelweed back.

jewel weed has explosive seed pods, when ripe, a simple touch launches seed.... you may be in an area where there is Yellow flowered form as well.

One of best staging areas we have had during dry early season bow hunting was a Jewel Weed patch in woods bordering a corn lot. The Jewel Weed held a lot of moisture and the deer came to it a solid hour and a half before dark.

I have some of this and I wondered what it was. I have never seen it flower and I almost have never saw it with leaves. But that stem is identifiable to me in that third photo. It’s mangled by the deer at my place.

Jewel weed is one of those weeds you want... I have so much of it that I dont notice it being browsed but its said to be a tasty deer treat.

If you ever get into stinging nettle find some jewelweed and break off a stem. Rub on the area. We call the stinging nettle fireweed.
