Ontario Fishing recommendations

roymunson

5 year old buck +
Looking for a fish camp somewhere in southern Ontario that's pretty remote.

I have a son who loves to fish and looking to go on a weeks trip with him next summer. Any good recommendations.

The good ones that show up when I google it make me nervous that there will be too many people. The poorly advertised ones make me think it'll be a rat hole.

Surely someone here has been up there and can recommend it.
Looking for something with a cabin (can be primitive), boat, and basic ammenities.

Go over to walleye central and ask your question, you'll get some good info there.

Keep your dollars in the U.S. Fish northern MN. You won't find much for remote in southern ON

can you elaborate on the lack of remote in Ontario?

Gotcha...

I think I probably misspoke.

I thought "southern" meaning close to minnesota

I saw some cool stuff near Ear Falls that kinda thing.
It's about 20 hours in a truck, but it's good 1 on 1 time with the kid

Sunset Country, NW Ontario

More places than you could shake a stick at. The previous suggestion to check out Walleye Central is a good one.

You're talking about the 2027 Summer?

What are you looking to fish for?

I've been going to a place for 20 years or so. It use to be a fly-in only, but logging opened up some roads in the area, now you can get to a parking lot in a vehicle. From there you load your stuff in a boat and boat into the cabin. The cabin has a bathroom, including hot shower. Kitchen with sink, fridge, and gas stove. 2 bedrooms with 3 twin beds. Has several boats with 9.9 4 stroke Suzukis.

Fishing for smallmouth is great. Catch plenty of walleye, and all the pike you desire. Cabin is on a 1200 acre lake, and the only cabin there. You can portage into another lake, where they keep a couple more boats/motors. Out of that lake you can run the Namakan river for miles, more fishing than you can cover during your stay. Normally, don't see another human the whole time we're there.

I've written about it before, @ruskbucks actually went and took his son last summer.

We’ve went to Camp Quetico near Atikokan numerous times. Always a good trip. Getting a little pricey and busy at camp, but many different lakes that you can fish. Good bass, walleye and pike.

yeah, summer of 27

Smallmouth, walleye, pike, the rest would just be fun stuff.

Keep enough to eat while we're there, that's about it.

Do you have some specific dates? Or at least approximate?

Bass fishing is killer in certain places when the season opens. Lake trout gets relatively consistent in July.

Are you wanting to fish shield lakes? Great lakes?

Ontario is huge, and there are essentially unlimited opportunities available.
