Old Triple Drop Tine Warrior Down!

That’s crazy awesome. Congrats!!

Great buck!!!!

Wow that’s a buck with character

What a warrior, hope he did lots of breeding. :)

I need to figure out how to score him. I know it isn't a big scoring deer, but always like to have a number for those who ask. There is another big drop tine in my left hand.

How wide is he? With all the mass and nontypical points he will definitely break 150

I just measured his frame and added on the junk, didn't take any deductions. 163.5"

I remember watching that old video and at the time thinking yeah he's ok. Then he turned his head and the drops appeared out of nowhere, and I thought, shoot that deer!

Looks like you made the right decision.
Congratulations on a great buck with great history. You certainly earned him, it takes a lot to let a deer like that walk away a few times even if he is a home body.

Cool. Email?

Congratulations on a great buck and an awesome story, your history with him makes it even sweeter!! To me there is nothing crazy about passing a 4 yo buck, I've done it numerous times and never saw some of them again but I don't regret any of them!!

Daytime pics.

Great buck and pictures!

Awesome! Congrats

Got results back from the Deer age on the Drop tine deer. They say 5.5. I find that a little hard to believe with the history I have with him. That would mean he was a 2 year old in 2015 when I filmed him the very first time, and only 3 when I filmed him the next year, the one that is on youtube as "DropNov5".

Not sure I'll spend that money again. It is possible, but I would have swore by his body, and my history with him he was 6.

Several years ago we were lucky enough to have a main frame 10 point with four matching drop tines along with several other non typical tines and mass to boot. We wanted to believe that based off of the deers short and leggy body that he was a 2.5 he also had a short baby faced snout to boot. Going off of the size of the rack we just couldn't believe him to be that young so we showed the pictures to a wildlife biologist and he said based off of the body characteristics he'd also bet on 2.5.

A member of our party was lucky enough to harvest him 2 years later. We sent in a tooth to have aged and it came back 4.5. Not saying its perfect but it would make that deer to be 2.5 the year he showed up.

We have sent numerous jaws of known age bucks to lab for testing over several years as an experiment. Some years they were 100% accurate. Other years 70-80% accuracy though never off more than a year. Just an fyi

If they're off, they are off a year. I know he's not more than 6.5, but I did think he was 6. I never saw him in 2017. Passed/filmed him in 2016 and 2015.

I'm thinking you missed something. I'm no good at scoring pics of deer but he looks bigger than that to me. Care to share any of the measurements?
