I just seeded some rye in SW WI last week during a rain storm, worst case scenario, I'm out $60. Best case scenario, we have enough days left in the 50's for some (any) growth.

Yes and don’t count it as a loss until next spring. You might not thing it did much and come back next spring to a rocking field of rye!! It can happen!!

After seeing this deer in person - I had my suspicions on his age. Having it confirmed as a 5.5 year old - just makes it that much sweeter. As you all know getting a deer (regardless of where you hunt) to 5+ is something special. I am so amazed at the body size and antler potential of these 5 year old majestic whitetail!!

I know doe harvest can be a tricky discussion - so I wanted to share a video on how and why we decide to target or not target does on our farm! Hope it helps!

Here we are - post gun season in Ohio and our plots are still feeding deer. Day in and out we have deer filling their rumen with carbon load! The best part is- this plot will continue to feed deer through next Spring. Carbon load is a fantastic hunting plot. However, it might be even better as a cover crop. It will be the first thing to green up this Spring.

The deer,turkeys and soil will thank you!!

Our mixes don’t only attract deer - because they are highly diverse, they create great bugging habitat as well. The clovers are also consumed by turkeys.

I personally am not a turkey hunter but I love seeing wildlife populations grow and utilize the farm!

It all starts with the soil!
