Nice find

Gator

5 year old buck +
Found this nice pear tree in my pines. I mowed a path through the pines year 1 of owning the farm and always looked at this tree but this is the first year with fruit. I'm thinking my orchard planted spring of 2013 has pollinated this tree. Its absolutely loaded this year. I've cut the trees down near it except for the planted pines around it and mowed all the way around the tree. Since mowing the deer have already moved in and took care of some of the low growth that the tree had. Can't wait to see when it starts dropping fruit (hoping its mid Sept or later).pinepear1.JPG

It's always pretty awesome to get a positive unexpected discovery.

Typically when I find something "new" - it's something bad!:(

I'd pick some of those off to thin it. It looks like it might break before those drop.

The real beauty in finding something like that is that you will likely have a mature fruiting tree after you give it some sunlight and TLC. No waiting 4-7 years for heavy fruiting like with young planted stock.

And the deer will eat them no matter how bad they may taste lol. They will flock there
