New way of fixing B118

I too am done with Bud 118 for reasons stated above. I’ve had some blow even due to heavy winds one year, too. I now in the last two years have bought 40 trees from BlueHills which use Dolgo. Let’s hope these are as good as they sound.

Dolgo has become my favorite rootstock. All of mine have done great. I wish Bluehill still sold the rootstock for grafting.

I thought they did, but it sold out very quickly. Only ordered dolgo rootstock once, from willis orchard in georgia. Not the best place to get from, but they're alive at camp 2 years later.

Anybody have any pics of dolgo seedling going to maturity? Maybe i'll buy 100 from a lrger quanity place and baby 20 or so at home and let the other 80 go free at camp for bird crabs.

I have been registered to be notified when back in stock since he quit selling them. Never been notified. I just registered again and it said I am already registered. I am about out of space anyway and only do a few trees a year now. Ryan’s Dolgo rootstock have been the best I have used and it would be nice if they became available again.

Might take year off from fruit trees at camp. Cheif river nursery did not have dolgo this year, but are planning to next year. Just eailed them the other day. Looking for a singke place to get burr oak, grey dogwood, and maybe some rootstock.

Looks like I should have given this one a flattop too. It was a 16 ft tall AB on B118 and I had it braced with 2 T-posts. It took them down with it.

All my grafts are on dolgo and I've been very happy with them. How does Anti compare for clay soils?

At camp in NC Pa., we have clay/loam soil. So far - no problems at all with Antonovka rootstocks. Our first Anty- trees were planted in the spring of 2013. Anty, MM-111, P-18, and Dolgo all seem solid at our place. Don't know what soil you have there, but you aren't all that far from our camp location, as the crow flies.
