Soprano pear

We just noticed this wild pear tree growing in a clump of cedars around a stump near my Fathers property line. The neighbors house and carport are behind the tree. NOW I know many of you will say cut it down it's invasive.There are 3 other pear trees growing in this clump that don't have any pears. I'm a BIG fan of these golf ball sized round pears for wildlife , so this tree excites me. I'd love to have it dug up and moved to a new location on the property , but that's probably too expensive . I'll probably cut the cedars and junk away from it in the winter and fence it off so the deer can't get it. Then try to graft a few to put in my hunting plot with my Dr Deer pears, Gilmer Christmas , wildlife pears and Double -D pears. It can't hurt to try , probably no worse than the Morse Hybrid pears I was fixing to buy lol. There were some on the ground under the Cedar , but I had to reach under to get them, so I don't think the deer know it's there. For a young tree it has a lot more pears hanging compared to my expensive 7 year old Dr Deer Pear....Maybe the Soprano pear will be a winner !.

I'm going to keep a eye on it !. Hard to tell exacty how many are on the ground right now because it's growing right in the middle of a cedar.
I was able to get down on my hands and knees and pull a few pears out, BUT what I like about it , it still has A LOT still hanging right now for such a small tree.

I was just told $1,000 to dig up and relocate this tree, so unless I hit the lottery it will be staying put and I'll cut the cedar away and fence it in and attempt to graft it.

I just found a wild apple tree coming up on my place. I’m sure it’s coming up from one of the many apples I’ve fed the deer over the years. I’m going to brush out around it this fall and see just what sort of apples it produces in the next few years.

Take a few pears and put it on top of something like a piece of plywood. Get a good idea if the deer like it.

Good place to put a trail camera out too.

Yeah I brought 5 of those pears to the front yard were I have some other pear trees. There is a dirt spot around the trees fence from me circling it with the zero turn mower, I set the pears there and will check daily to see how long it takes them to disappear.

You can always cut scions and graft from it to keep it going if it is a good wildlife tree.

No offense but the fruit from that looks like it could be a callery pear, some call them Bradford.

His looks more like Dr Deer size pears callery pears are much smaller at least in my area they are maybe 3/8”

Try and document its drop time I might be interested in some scion wood.
