Where can one harvest more than one buck in Minnesota?
In Minnesota every season allows party hunting. So a hunter can shoot a buck with bow and then still buy a gun tag and cross tag with another hunter. No actual maximum of bucks tagged . Same with muzzy.

A guy in my county shot 5 one year and tagged it on his wife’s tag, friend, kid etc.. It would be nice if Minnesota had a true 1 buck limit .

I think you got a long row to hoe to eliminate party hunting.

But I wish they sold weapons permits, and then a buck tag. So I as a non resident didn’t have to pay full stop for each weapons season.

Wisconsin is worse really. You can shoot a buck with your bow tag, gun tag, muzzle loader tag, probably a few more. In a lot of counties you can buy many doe tags until the over abundant amount is sold out, 12,000 antlerless tags in my county alone.

You can register your deer online, no need to show anyone, or bring it in. There is an active gun season from about mid October through the entire month of December. With Veterans, youth, rifle/gun, muzzle loader, early December doe only, and the Holiday hunt that goes through Christmas to sometimes past the new year.

You can hunt with crossbow/bow from early September until mid January. Some years you can bait, some you cant, but pretty much everyone does regardless. Wolves and bear are abundant in my area as well.

I actually like Minnesota regulations except the timing of the gun season . A really good compromise might be eliminating party hunting during the muzzy & bow season .

This would allow gun hunters to party hunt during “deer camp”. But they would be done hunting after that, not be able to tag a buck in multiple seasons.

If we could move the gun season back two weeks, it would be a huge game changer .

In the best deer area of MN (SE MN), you can shoot an unlimited number of bucks because of the CWD regulations. One buck with a bow, one with gun, one with muzzleloader plus unlimited bucks for $2 per tag for the late cwd hunt. And you can party hunt and fill someone else's buck tag as well.

The CWD zones will expand to take up the rest of the deer holding zones within the next decade, so it will not get better. Until there is a cure for CWD, there will likely never be a change to the MN deer seasons that will restrict any buck harvest.

Any cwd zone for one but pretty sure cross tagging is allowed state wide again

Pretty much the same for southern Mn

I’d move for an Oct 1 bow opener, 1, 9 day gun season pushed back to mid to late nov ( open S. MN for rifle hunting ) Dec 15-31 black powder and 1 buck limit

Not perfect, IMO, but a big improvement from what we have now.

Charging full price for muzzle loader, firearms and bow seasons.....and being able to shoot one deer seems greedy for the DNR. Now that I am a non-resident....the fees to hunt during archery or even a bear hunt on my own land seem to high priced for what it is. I did buy a liftetime firearms and fishing license....but the cost of non residents to hunt in MN is crazy.

MN NR deer licenses are quite cheap compared to lots of states. Pretty sure I had $700 into my CO license last fall and it was only valid for 1 week. MT tags are probably around $900 when preference points are taken into account..

Yeah, it's a bit of insanity, for what you get. I've run the numbers on switching back to MN residency for a year to get a lifetime license, and it'll never pan out. The MN one year income tax load is so bad, the tag price savings wouldn't make back the tax loss for 15 years.

Another angle to collect "DUES". $$$$$

I only think you believe it to be crazy because the DNR in MN has mismanaged the season timing and “bag limits” so much.

If quality was better it would seem like a steal.

Iowa - and that doesn't take into account the cost of preference points:

WI is generally aligned with MN NR fees. A little more for gun tags, a little less for archery.

What you get is exactly the difference. The non resident bear tag is $50 higher than the deer tag. The bear tag is worth it, because u might have a chance at a good bear in the right area.

The nonresident deer tag in zone 1 isn’t really worth anything. I’d give 3x the non resident cost to hunt private land in SE MN. $20 for zone 1 is too high. Might as well sell nonresident zebra tags too.

For $650 I think I'd rather shoot a Black Angus.....and pay the uncharge. Guaranteed hunt.
