Missouri Deer Harvest 2023

As of January 1, the 2023 Missouri deer harvest is a new state record. While there are still 14 days of archery hunting left, the last two weeks generally see only minor additions to these harvest numbers.

On the CWD front, the numbers are about what was anticipated—with no major upswings. There will be several new counties added to the CWD zones next year.

Just checked the number for my deer and my sons deer that were donated. Negative thank goodness. This way I don't have to tell MDC to pound sand when they want to send out snipers.

Missouri enjoyed a new record harvest. In a conversation with the MDC, the goals for the “extended firearm season” in CWD zones and the “early antlerless hunt” were met. These addition seasons added eight firearms hunting days in CWD zones and areas with high deer density. The success of these seasons means hunters area able to have a more active role in herd management, especially in CWD zones. While crossbow controversies continue, allowing crossbows has not really impacted the archery harvest in this state.
