New MN Bowhunters Association Group

In the process of transitioning from Monticello to Redwood Falls. Don't think it pays on the overhead/mission side of things right now to dedicate $ to a formal office. Most board meetings have been and will continue to be remote because everyone is spread out. Upcoming meeting will be in Hutchinson, but events are spread out.

We've been using the data from other Midwest states to help support our arguments and have been discussing with several other states bowhunting organizations. Aiming to set a precident on reversal in MN and help other states claw back their archery seasons. Hoping to use the marketing geared towards long range shots (135 yard from one company), and the huge advancements in crossbow tech over the past 10-15 years to help establish separate and shorter crossbow seasons. It can be done.

You have my support and my money, I signed up for membership last night. I'll be recruiting a few others I know that feel the same way.

Thanks for the support Brian! Preordered shirts will probably be a month out and may get slightly tweaked at the board meeting. We've got some passionate bowhunters joining the board soon that have been very active with helping us spread our petition and contacting MN House and Senate representatives. Always looking for more people to help with advocacy and community events if you know anyone. Unfortunately, we do have representatives in the House AND Senate environmental committees that now crossbow hunt or have close family that do. Because of that, the odds of returning to 60+ and handicap allowance is highly unlikely, but we should be able to get a separate season established with a delayed start hopefully not before firearm opener.

Dang … you are making my day !

How many members do you have ? Will you try to push the gun season back ?

I’ll sign up … I’m a huge advocate for change in Minnesota & an avid bow hunter

Unfortunately, we've dipped below 100 after a couple years of lower activity, but the new board is motivated to promote archery and keep this organization going. We struggled with getting volunteers for events and then our storage unit was broken into which severely limited our ability to host anything meaningful. On the gun season, there isn't going to be much of a gun season if we can't push crossbows back. 79% of the hunters in Ohio hunt the archery season now. Minnesota is likely to go from 12% to 50-60%+ of total buck harvest coming from the archery season due to crossbows. Lots to work on, but focusing on the currently introduced bills.

Neither my state Rep or my state Senator is on the environmental committee, but I have met Sneator Draz (neighboring Senato about other issues and would reach out to him. What HF and SF numbers do you guys want support behind?
